MS2-Extra
Only for use with the MS2-Extra code (HC9S12C64 based microprocessor - MS2 Daughter Board) |
NOTE: Please ensure you have one of these daughter boards inside your ECU before continuing. If you have a standard black microprocessor, then you have an MS1 and these manuals are NOT for MS1 see here for MS1-Extra Manuals

This CAS is fitted to many Japanese made cars such as Mazda and Toyota.

This is supported in all versions of MS2/Extra using the second trigger no-missing trigger wheel decoder. You need two VR sense conditioners. The lower sensor (the one with the most teeth) is used for the main trigger input (pin 24 of the MS ECU) and the other one/two for the second VR input.
V3.0 PCB's
Main Trigger Input - Connect the bottom VR sensor to pin 24 of the MS ECU
Second VR conditioner Circuit - this needs to be built then connected to the top/middle sensor. See connection circuit below for what sensor(s) to use.

1K resistor = 1.0KQBK-ND |
1K resistor = 509-164 |
Please note: Above part numbers will need checking, some components will come with a minimum order in multiples of 5 and 10.
Spark outputs come on D14 and D16 (wasted); D14, D16, D15, JS11 (coil on plug) see HERE for options on driving the coils.

COP Setup
(Set Number of coils to COP in Ignition Options) |
Wasted Spark Setup
(Set Number of coils to COP in Ignition Options) |
Note that for wasted spark the Wheel speed is set to Crank where as for COP it is set to Cam, this is because we will get 2 pulses per cam revolution (sensors 1 and 2) on the second VR input, so this makes it the same speed as the crank. But when in COP we only get one pulse on the second input so that is cam speed.
