Installing and setting up TunerStudio for the first time

To install and use TunerStudio you will need the latest Java runtime and the TunerStudio install file.

Links to both may be found at (or may be provided with your assembled unit.)

First run the Java installer and step through the install process.

Then run the TunerStudio installer.

If this is your first connection, follow the serial port setup guide and load firmware now.

Power your Megasquirt (using a fused 12V supply)

Open TunerStudio

If an update is offered, accept it.

From the File menu, select "New Project"

Choose a descriptive Project Name if you wish.

Click on Detect.

If the ECU is not automatically detected then instead tick "Other" and click on the three dots to find an "ini" file,
This file is found in the same folder that you extracted the firmware and where you ran the download-MS2-firmware.bat

If the you see a message saying that firmware is not loaded:

Then you need to Quit out of TunerStudio and load firmware. Return to this page once you have loaded firmware.
(Seeing this message does mean that your serial connection is working ok and TunerStudio is correctly communicating with your Megasquirt.)

Select your wideband controller - this must match the AFR calibration in MS2 and the calibration of your wideband controller. In particular, if using an LC1 controller use Innovate's software to check its outputs are calibrated to match what the Megasquirt is expecting.

This screen sets the serial communications. Ensure the right COM port is selected to match your actual port or USB cable. The baud rate should be set to 115200 for MS2 based systems (or 9600 for MS1.) After making those settings, click "Test Port" to confirm communications.

The final screen for project setup is to select a dashboard view. It is safe to accept the default and Finish. Tunerstudio allows advanced users to create their own custom dashboard layouts.

You are now ready to start tuning!

Note: Some of the older manual pages show screenshots from Megatune, however, the contents of the tuning screens is identical so do not worry !
