Re: Upgraded for MS1 to MS2, no JS3 for fan control?

When you updated, did you add the jumper from s12C to JS9? If not that's why your IACs aren't working. I don't understand how S2C/JS9 is relevant. My fan control is from old DIYAuto article, built on proto area of V3.0 PCB. CPU signal out from JS3 to proto circuit, out to pin4 on DB37. Tunerstudio ...

Re: Upgraded for MS1 to MS2, no JS3 for fan control?

my findings- IAC2 could be IAC2A or IAC2B. according to schematic these correspond to JS2 and JS3 respectively. I tried both with PT6-IAC2 in TunerStudio. no matter what I tried it didn't work. then tried JS11 and it worked. by "tried" I mean physically moved wiring to JS11 hole on PCB and...

Re: Upgraded for MS1 to MS2, no JS3 for fan control?

schematics are a little hard to read but it looks like JS3 corresponds to IAC2B?
So I'll try PT6-IAC2 in TS

Re: Upgraded for MS1 to MS2, no JS3 for fan control?

not sure I follow. from schematics i see the suggested jumper for JS3 is IAC2B. is that what you mean?
I'm already wired from JS3 to SPR2(pin4 DB37), would like to keep it that way.

just trying to find in the TS software a way to make JS3 fan control, but don't see it, only JS11

Upgraded for MS1 to MS2, no JS3 for fan control?

went from MS1 029Y4 to MS2 3.4.4 firmware. car is running but fan won't turn on. from "output pin settings" tab in 029Y4 firmware, I use output 2 JS3.
but I can't find JS3 anywhere in the MS2/3.4.4 firmware.
just wondering if someone can help or do I need to start soldering?

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

Success! got it running with the old MS1 chip and 029 FW. some of the spark settings were wrong, had to set output to D14 and turn off other spark outputs. then fix the dwell, it was maxed out at 25ms. set 5 cranking, 2 running. the BIP373 is happy with that. but it still wouldn't start until spark ...

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

car won't start, no spark with the 029 firmware. I'm trying to remember how i set up spark on the PCB and check in/outputs. meanwhile the UPS guy just dropped off MS2 chip.
I'd like to get car started with the MS1 just as an exercise but will change over to MS2 soon

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

Firmware update fixed the config problems. I was running Hi-res code before but couldn't get firmware flash to work with my 64bit win10 desktop PC. even tried hi-res 11 with 64bit loader but didn't work either. surprisingly the 029y4 code did work. now just need to check all the settings before atte...

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

Hi James, that resolved the X2 conflict, but upon restart another conflict, this time "can only have one ignition input". I checked and found all ignition inputs were turned on. turned off all except distributor MSnS, restarted again and now ampersands.

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

I don't know how to fix it. it's saying I can't use output for Fan and Water Inj, but fan is disabled and Water inj greyed out.

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

well this is interesting, i pulled the cover from MS today to give a look-over. found a little piece of copper wire that must have broke off a stranded wire soldered on the proto board. the strand that broke off wound up stuck in the pin legs of the U6 I/O chip. it was definitely touching multiple p...

Re: Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

I know, MS1 NLA and not supported. It was a good run, since 2005. I got my moneys worth :D

Just ordered MS2 CPU from DIYAuto

Ugh.. Config error X2 Fan control

MS1 CPU, V3 PCB fan turning on too soon so i go in outputs menu to adjust. soon as I burn new setting MS starts pulsing fuel pump on/off and giving config error, car won't start. says X2 conflict, can't run both fan output and water injection. but water injection is disabled. disabled fan but still ...

Re: GM Distributorless Ignitions

forgive me, my Regal has been sitting in the yard for way too many years. I'm trying to get it running again. been a long time since I looked at the trigger wheel. I know the crank sensor has 2 notches, my memory was telling me it had 2 wheels tucked up in the pulley. i forgot about the cam sensor, ...

Re: GM Distributorless Ignitions

ok. that's fine for the waste spark coils but i assume no sequential support for the injectors?
not a big deal, I'm just wondering. if not sequential, what is the preferred way of firing them, all 6 at once or pairs of 3?

Re: GM Distributorless Ignitions

The turbo Regal TTypes and Grand Nationals use a double wheel pattern, with 3x and 18x teeth.

Re: GM Distributorless Ignitions

can MS1/2 or 3 support the GM 3x 18x wheel directly? I'm wondering because otherwise i don't see how this would work. from my understanding the 3x feeds directly to the ignition module but the 18x goes to the factory ECM. Does MS have software to take the 18x input and make the GM ignition coil fire...

it also keeps the db9 cable tight when plugged in.
