From reading some other posts it is sounding like my Vref is not getting a clean signal. The problem I have is I don't have access to a scope. How would a go about checking the Vref signal. The thread also mentioned instability in the +5v on the board. Again how would I check that. The only testing ...

Thanks Matt. Wish they found out what caused it. I am thinking of separating the power to MS and the power to the coil. Right now they are wired up so the coil draws its power from the same place as MS. I don't think that is a problem because the datalog doesn't show a drop in voltage. Seems to me t...

Need a little help (MAP and TPS won't stay still)

MSI-E 029y V3.0 Installed on a Toyota 6MGE. Using 24-2 cam wheel with a Ford coil pack. The issue is this. When looking at MT while the engine is idling the MAP and TPS values are somewhat steady. While I am driving the MAP and TPS will fluctuate while at a constant speed on a level road. I thought ...

d*** I'm an idiot. I ran the car out of gas during the first idle period. I'm guessing because it was running so rich. Seems that turning the pot only coincided with running out of gas.

Anyway, it's idling now.

Still absolutely nothing from the engine. I took the spark plugs out again and they smell like fuel and they were not wet to the touch. I ziptied the ends of them together (1-6, 2-5, 3-4) and set them on top of the engine and turned the engine over. There was a delay from when I started to turn the ...

Got new copper core spark plugs and put them in. I am getting nothing. The engine just cranks and there are no signs of life. I am getting spark according to the timing light, the plugs smell of fuel but are not dripping wet and I didn't have any compression issues before the install. There are no r...

Yep for V2.2 board you use JP1 Pin4. I'm sure you have read the manual but here is a link for it. http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra_Hardware_Manual.htm#launchC Not sure what you mean by "bring this out on an unused pin on the relay board" What I did was use an unused pin on the DB36 ...

Will try that this evening when I get home.

Any ideas on what direction I should move it. Its currently at 60 +0. I am thinking of moving it to a lower +0 value in increments of 5. Is that a good plan or should the increments be smaller.

Thanks.

How do the jumpers on the MSII board look?

I think you need to have some jumpers on the MSII board to use JS11. I tried to look through the manual but couldn't find it.

*edit* nevermind I found it it's for JS7 (found here)

ShellExecute error code 31?

When ever I open a saved .msq file I get a message saying that one warning was written to the audit log. When I open the audit log it tels me there is a ShellExecute error code 31. What does this mean and would it prevent MS from operating correctly.

Why does Toyota say to set the timing at 10deg at idle. (~750rpm). That doesn't seem to be what this thread is saying.

This is for a 1986 Supra 5MGE

Are those diodes necessary? My clutch switch has a 12v pull-up on it for the factory anti-theft and cruise control. So I just spliced into it and it does have 12v with the switch closed and 0v with the switch open. I'm just JS11 and not JS7 though. The output says it's PEO. I don't even see any ref...

I did something in the settings of the com port.

I went back to the default values and noticed one of the drop down selectable values change.

Now it only takes 30s and went through the verification step.

Thanks for the responses. Its fixed now.

Unable to load code to the MSII chip

I tried to load the MSII code to the chip and got some wierd message. I have verified that I can get letters to appear on hyperterm when pins 12 an 13 are shorted together. I have good voltage. I am running windows 98se on an old slow pentop computer. MSII V3. I got the files from here: http://www.m...

Thanks for the reply.

I forgot to mention I have a 6cyl. Sorry about that.

I have put the extra VB921s in and none of them have wires going to the board except for Pin 1 which goes to the heat sink side of the led resistors.

Is 22 gauge wire big enough for the extra wires I need to run?

Guess I'm going to wing it.

Would like some sort of input. There has to be some one who has done a wasted spark set up with MSIIe.

I think I answered one of my questions For the ICV. If I want to use the FIdle output I need to have that circuit. Looking at this, http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/megasquirt_ShemV3.00.pdf (page 5), it looks like I can leave out R57 and R43. The new schematic in the link in the first post has pin 3 on...
