Re: Starts up then stalls out
Are you sure about that 7* at idle? My old Chevy I-6 info shows 23-27* (depending on exact engine application). Static is 0 or 4, with 23 vacuum advance by 16" Hg, which would surely be all-in at idle on such a mild engine. I don't know of any easy ways to develop an optimum timing map. It's b...

Re: Setting the PWM Criteria questions
Are you sure you're clicking "burn" after each adjustment? Yes How are your "squirts per engine cycle" and "injector staging" settings set? 6 per cycle (Toyota 2F engine, Straight 6) and staging is set to alternating Finally, you referenced the MS1/Extra manual, are yo...

Re: Setting the PWM Criteria questions
So I follow the guide mentioned above and they make NO sense. I set my Injector dead time to 1 and then bring my PWM current limit down in 1% increments. I was able to bring it all the way down to 0 with NO change in idle. I even tried to turn it the MS on and off and there was NO change. This shoul...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
No point in leaving timing "fixed" as you drive around, that is only a tool to be sure initial installation is correct, or check things if a problem arises. You only need something like a degreed pulley or timing tape if you don't think MS is setting the advance correctly. But, if you ins...

Setting the PWM Criteria questions
So I got this motor to idle and now I want to get my Low impedance injectors on my 4.3 liter TBI dialed in. I read the part about "Setting the PWM Criteria" found here: http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_Extra_Tuning_Manual.htm#pwm I have 2 questions after reading it. In step 2 it ment...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
I made some quick measurements of balancer and the pulley. Outside diameter of the balancer is 7 and 21/32 which is 7.625" and finding tape for that is going to be a nightmare. The pulley on the other hand the outside diameter of that is 6" on the button so I can work with that just need t...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
I know the BB is at 7 degrees. I know these motors very well. I have painted the BB and the TDC mark(which is only a stamped line in the flywheel) white so that they are nice and visible under the strobe. Issues with dial back lights to news to me. I haven't been viewing this forum long enough to ha...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
That would be "MegaLogViewer", the software used to view logs. When that is open you can select to display "sync loss count" and "sync loss reason", similar to how you select to display rpm, MAP, PW, etc. I didn't look at your second (zipped) log, but the first one pos...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
Hi mate I am no expert to have an opinion on your msq but i will tell you what i have seen to your log and it may help you. First of all your tps seems like not working or not calibrated. You face way too much syncro loses and you get sycro lost reason 17. When this is happening you loose your crank...

Re: Starts up then stalls out
Ok well today it seems to be starting then wobbling or ranging from just about to stall to revving. This is a low rpm motor, it should idle around 750 and max rpm should be around 3000. Here are the datalogs and MSQ.

Starts up then stalls out
Been a LONG time. I finally got around to working on my engine again and since it has been over 2 years since I last played with this, I decided to go with the latest update 2.3.4 and scrap what I had done before because I had gotten way off track with that. So I did that, set everything up like it ...

Re: No RPM While Cranking
What kind of car? What kind of engine? What kind of vr sensor is handling the rpm signal. I had an issue like this with my nippondenso CAS on my dist. Since there are 2 vr rings that feed back the rpm signal, one goes to the one with the pots the other one goes to an added on chip that processes the...

Re: Working fine... turn it off then on again... not working
I think I got some code welds. I went and started tracing the trigger wires back and when I got to the internal of the MS checking mV from the spr1 to ground suddenly it started to work. *shrug* no clue what I did.

Well it didn't completely fix it... I have no RPM signal now from either ring. GRRRR.

Re: Setting up an initial ignition timing table
I read this whole thing and my brain is smoking. I am a newbie and that xls sheet, no matter how much I read posts on this makes no sense. I have a toyota 2f motor that stock has a redline of 4000 and is supposed to have a timing of 7 degrees at 650 rpm. I have had the whole thing balanced as the bo...

Reloading the firmware fixed it... I hope this isn't something that happens out on the road. I don't want to be taking my laptop with me everywhere.

Working fine... turn it off then on again... not working
So as you all know I have a working ms2/e... or rather I had a working one... I was making adjustments to the starting point of the IAC which means I need to turn the key on then off again to accept it. Well I turned it off and on one time and now I can't talk to the MS via the serial, the fuel pump...

Re: Closed loop Idle control help needed
Joey, I have attached a txt document that is a copy & paste of many of the PID idle control posts. It is geared torwards Bosch & Ford IAC motors, but it does include definitions of all IAC control functions and each of these functions do, which are also applicable to stepper motors. -Dennis...

EXACTLY! I am perfectionist though and since this is the first time I am doing this, I like to measure twice and cut once, as it were.muythaibxr wrote:As far as the timing goes, if it's too much advance, fix it! That's why you have a megasquirt on there!
