Microsquirt Edis spark but no RPM
This was going to be a problem thread but I figured out what the issue was. Just want to leave this here in case people have the same problem in the future. With my luck it will be me, reading my own thread in 10 years. Edis has spark but no RPM signal. 2.5VAC from VR sensor, around 12VAC on PIP to ...

Re: progressive loss of power, onset of knock
I'm already running 2 steps colder than stock, because for some reason the spec'd plugs have a tendency to arc out against the block instead of firing in the cylinder. Going colder was the fix for this... 4 years ago, and I have been buying the same plugs ever since. I have not recently tried changi...

Re: A few table suggestion for single driver tuning
you make very good points about ease of use of the keyboard commands, I would also appreciate a "one touch" mode, where you can simply use the shift or arrow keys directly, by themselves, to adjust values. This would greatly simplify one handed operation. BUT - it has to be said that you s...

Re: progressive loss of power, onset of knock
yes, everything is still timed correctly, AFR's are good and normal. I've had to pull back timing and still haven't solved this issue. I tried some octane boost and that didn't really do anything, I expected it to help a bit. it may be a winter/summer gas thing, or just the hotter weather overall.

Re: Idle control stall
this happens to me ALL THE TIME. It's pretty annoying, but I do realize there is no easy fix. I often cruise up to turns/corners in neutral, then right before the corner I'll let the clutch out. Of course the PID thinks the idle speed is going nuts for no reason, so it closes up the valve for me, ya...

Re: High RPM misfire at no load.
would seem like a dwell issue to me at first glance. But 11:1 at no load is very rich, I would not be the least bit surprised if that was part of your problem, it goes its riches right as it breaks up. Look at the AFR it makes a big steep dive, then a couple frames later the rpms start dropping. I n...

progressive loss of power, onset of knock
So my tune has been pretty spot on for about 6 months. In the recent weeks, its gotten warmer, and the car just seems to have lost quite a bit of power. Symptoms: - loss of power - engine sounds like its having a hard time getting over the torque 'hump' - some light knocking at the torque peak, had ...

Re: EGO Control PID settings?
totally I is where its at. Keep P really low, keeps the thing manageable. D works for me, it gives it a kind of hysteresis, it helps it not respond to those quick random AFR spikes. I use 5 - 25 - 5 or something similar

its really low frequency just rig up a scope probe out of 2 bits of wire, it'll work just fine.

Re: More EDIS 4 Trouble (spark cutout)
well I can't really ignore your thread anymore since my setup has started to miss as well. not at idle, not under load, but in a weird transition area. Basically when I am pulling through gears, just at the moment where I start to lift the gas before shifting, it misses. Also if I just put it in 2nd...

Re: I am lost, spark / fuel?? I still have misfires
you can lower the threshold for tps, just be careful, if you go too low it will start false-triggering. Try using the accell wizard in tunerstudio, its much better and will make more sense for you.

Re: EDIS VR Sensor question
Just do the whole install, bring the wires to where you want to connect them but don't do it yet. EDIS is pretty bulletproof, if it has power, ground, and signal from the VR then it will generate a tach signal and fire the coils - no doubt about it. If your VR is hooked backwards you will get no tac...

Re: Lean Tip-In
If you're running 1 squirt that is likely the problem. The squirt is just coming at the wrong time, so its always noticeably late below 1000 rpms. I run 4/alt which is probably why I don't have the problem. I used to run 2/sim on ms1, and it was definitely not as good as it is now. When I have a spa...

Re: Lean Tip-In
Well I just went out to check out how mine behaves, and I definitely also can make it lean-spike once in awhile, with the right quick stab of the pedal. However, it has no actual effect on the way the engine runs. Its such a quick spike that by the time there's any real load on the motor, its rich. ...

Re: Low fuel pressure safety measure?
sure but what if it happens just as you begin making a left turn across 2 lanes of fast-moving traffic. Then your engine shuts off and you are dead. Would you rather be dead with a saved 500hp motor? Or alive with a dead 500hp motor? That question is up to you, but needless to say, any device that s...

Re: Lean Tip-In
that should definitely have an effect, if even the VE table isn't responding fast enough, then you have to go with tps.

Re: Diagnose misfires with datalog
don't use the original grounds. The factory ECU probably has a more robust power supply section with more built-in filtering.
Run a new, large-ish gauge ground, with ring terminals soldered on, from the MS to clean, sanded, bare metal on the chassis, and then to the engine block.

Re: Lean Tip-In
Your VE may be 'correct' in the bins directly above idle, but having a 'correct' number in this bin is of no advantage, because you will never spend any significant time there. There's definitely a few 'transition' bins that you only get into in this tip-in situation. Richen those bins! Just use the...

Re: Why are the injectors powered by the main relay?
I would still use a relay to power the MS because the ignition on many cars can be quite noisy. Using a relay to bring straight battery power is still a much better idea.
