Well, you've checked the outside stuff, and everything works. Time to check the inside stuff.
Oh, hell - you're using a PNP! This could get interesting.
Let me think, and hopefully come up with something clever.

Not saying that at all. It was a straight question, no leading involved.

Re: [Feature request] Onboard odometer variable?
How often does the ECU write to the SD card? If it's in mid-write when you turn the key off, what sort of corruption are you risking?

Re: 2.5 Iron Duke / Pontiac Fiero ... and MicroSquirt
The MicroSquirt can control a 2- or 3-wire PWM IAC. It needs an add-on controller for a stepper-type IAC.

Sorry - MS unplugged. As you noted, the grounds are connected inside the MS box.

Re: Crank sensor and max ign advance
Not at all. The MS uses the crank wheel and missing tooth to figure out where the engine is. That's it. Ignition timing is handled purely in software. That 40° tooth timing still allows 0-720 degrees of advance.

Did you check that - when unplugged - the sensor ground wire has no connection to the other ground wires?

*Blink* Are you saying my QuadraMAPs don't work? I've never had any complaints about the function or calibration.jsmcortina wrote: ↑Mon Apr 15, 2024 11:14 pm I wouldn't expect this to work too well or be difficult to calibrate.

Re: External MAP Sensor 12v supply
A MAP sensor's consumption is only 5-10mA, so they're probably using a linear regulator with plenty of filter capacitors. The 12v feed can be pretty ugly, and still wind up with a clean 5v signal.
Figure out your 0v and 5v values, and enter them in the sensor calibration fields.

Re: Using a stock coolant sensor and temp gauges w/MicroSquirt
I believe the problem is that the one sensor is being subjected to two bias / pull-up resistors. The thermistor and bias resistor form a voltage divider that the gauge and uS know how to interpret. Add in that extra resistor, and things get confused. The solution is to pull the bias resistor on the ...

Ignition driver thoughts
With the demise of the BIP, I've been trying to find a suitable driver that incorporates thermal protection, to no avail. I've gone cross-eyed staring at data sheets; has anyone had better luck? The ISL9V series of IGBTs certainly seems capable; my only question is, Which one? Is higher clamping vol...

Re: ECOSpark replacement
The ISL9V5045S3ST has much higher pulse energy and clamping voltage than the ISL9V3040P3. Does the difference in SCIS energy and clamp voltage really make a difference in how well the transistor drives the coil?

I don't know enough about the Subarus to really comment intelligently, so I'll just suggest that you confirm whether the coil pack is logic or high current.

Re: Batch fire vs Sequential.
Correct, the basic MS3 only has 2 channels. You could do it with a jbperf 4-channel card, but you'd have to assemble and wire it. As prof noted, the 3X card is pretty much plug and play.

True fact. I'm not a little perplexed that they never released the MS2 r3 card, with provisions for PE0, PE1, and the two additional injector channels.

Wait a minute - you have a cam pulse, but you're set up for polling? What does your cam trigger look like - single tooth, multi tooth, or half moon?
