KTM LC8 75degree V twin, will it work?
I want to put a Microsquirt module on my motorcycle. It has a 1000cc Vtwin with a 75 degree V angle. It uses a 24 - 2 crank trigger, and i assume it uses the MAP sensor on cylinder 1 to sync the injection timing. It uses an ITB induction system with a MAP per cylinder as well as a separate BARO. It ...

Re: Knock Detection with analog filters
think I will try to build this circuit , I would be using it on a V-twin, 100mm bore, so need to figure out what freq to tune it for. I have a question though, This engine spends a lot of time above 5k, revs to 10k, would it even be worth doing? I have read that, generally, above around 5k, engine n...

Re: Microsquirt module test board
I would like to have one, how hard would it be to make the board a little larger, and add a proto area?

Re: external engine cam sensor
I never tried to remove the hall sensor from the valve cover to verify what I wrote. That is what I understood by reading a lot, but I asked a confirmation about that. Sorry if I made confusion  I put a Honeywell 1GT101DC purchased from Digikey and it work very well (10.500 RPM verified on my...

Re: external engine cam sensor
I'm not sure James meant that everything was correct or only just a part. However, the MS2/Extra code does need the cam signal all the time. Jean Thanks Jean for clearing that up for me, I had been lead to believe from several other posts on other threads that current code did not require a continu...

Re: external engine cam sensor
as I assume that h22 isn't a native english speaker there's obviuously a translation problem: he mixed up "dual wheel" and "missing tooth". So the answer to his question about usability of this external cam sensor assembly should be " yes this will work with msextra code an...

Re: external engine cam sensor
Fabio is correct. James Ok, I am REALLY confused by this. If I set up the MS2 3.1.1 for "dual wheel with missing tooth" and set the jim stim to 36-1 and a second trigger, i get good RPM readings. Likewise, on the bike if I use the same settings, only change it to 24-2 and a cam signal, I ...

Re: external engine cam sensor
Make sure that switching frequency is high enough, otherwise it won't work on high rpms. I guess using cam lobes is not accurate enough. It will work of course ,but I think you'll need an edge for triggering. Hi I made an hole on the valve cover, because I have a 36-0 crank wheel. In my case MS needs...

external engine cam sensor
I have a V3 board with an MS2 daughter card (3.1.1) mounted under the seat of my motorcycle. Right now it is just wired minimally, crank, TPS, O2 (wide band) coolant temp and air temp. coils and injectors are not hooked up, nor is the MAP, but it will be soon. I am just data-logging right now, to en...

Re: Generating sync signal with MAP sensors?
I disagree. If the engine is cranked with the throttle near closed there _ought_ to be a clear difference between intake and non intake events. Once sync is obtained you don't need to check again because the 24-2 crank wheel provides solid sync information. If you lost sync at WOT you'd be in troub...

Loading new firmware with MAC OSX?
I have a macbook pro, with OSX snowlep, It has a program called wine, that contains a DOS promt. When I open up the download-ms2-firmware.bat, a comand window opens up and asks me to enter a debug option, I enter "1" as recommended, and then i get the warning about not connecting coils unt...

Re: MAP sapling oddfire vtwin 2 maps
Why do you feel its important to get the lowest map reading possible? what is important is to get a representative pressure of what is in the cylinder at the time the cylinder is full to calculate VE, this happens just prior or at the time the intake valve closes. If you noticed the 90deg was an ap...

Re: MAP sapling oddfire vtwin 2 maps
The place to sample is just as the intake valve closes which is ~90deg btdc. Still not clear on this, i went and looked up the specs on an average "street" cam, 2000-6000 rpm range, so middle of the pack as cams are concerned. At .050 lift it has 242 degrees of duration, 283 degrees total...

Re: MAP sapling oddfire vtwin 2 maps
The angle is specified in degrees btdc like everything else MSe The number of samples is per tach events, so in your case you would set it to 2 so it would take the lowest sample over two tach events Assuming sequential ignition, not sure what happens if your running wasted spark or if that's even ...

MAP sapling oddfire vtwin 2 maps
I have read and understand (i think) how the MAP sampling works especially when it comes to single cyl motors. The MS2 takes a sample of the MAP at a specified angle after TDC, say 90 degrees. It takes the sample for a specified number of degrees say 10 If the number of samples taken (per 720degrees...

Re: Generating sync signal with MAP sensors?
one more issue with this is the timing of the signal, could be an issue with it as it will likely vary in relation to crank angle depending on rpm/load/TP and the triger point could easily get to close to a crank trigger event.... If we can just establish it at idle or below a cretain RPM and TPS po...

Re: Generating sync signal with MAP sensors?
This is why I want to use a comparator, not the current MAP sampling software. The pressure has to drop significantly in the intake throat at SOME point, or else it won't draw in all that lovely air that's driving the engine at WFO! Yes, it returns to near-ATM (or even above, with good filling) at ...

Re: Generating sync signal with MAP sensors?
this should work, however it all depends on the map sensor signal dropping a useable and repeatable amount even at WOT. but given the ventury effect it should work. I disagree. If the engine is cranked with the throttle near closed there _ought_ to be a clear difference between intake and non intak...
