i have just re-connected 2 and 3 and where as before i got strange characters back, i now get the letter i type twice. Any other ideas? Could i have been sold a dudd ecu
maybe? It was unused but off ebay.

Hi as you said, if i remove the link between 2 & 3 and type say gareth, i see gareth... If i reconnect the serial and type S Q T then i see S Q T . Not lookin good is it..

James, i have shorted pins 2 and 3, when i type, i get the characters back, where do i go from here? there is power to the ms also

i have also just re-done port checker and got response no connection made on port 1.

cheers for the reply, i still cant connnect, i have tried 2 different usb adapters and changed the port to 1-2-3 etc but wont connect, anything else? sorry James, it's just so frustrating trying to get things sorted in the time i have. I am very new to the MS stuff and reall really want to learn. I chose MS over the other brands, think i need to just sit back and chill for 10mins, not being able to log into the other forumn's hasnt helped either ...

hi james it is one of phil ringwooods ecu's running ford edis 4 ms1 and v3 board. it was origionaly setup for bmw sensors. im a complete nube when it comes to this stuff, still learning
