Re: RPM drops by 1000 after cold cranking - Idle tuning

Closed loop should work fine even off crank. I think there's just a bug in the way it's closing the valve after start immediately. It's supposed to wait for the delay period before engaging closed loop, then let closed loop reduce the RPM. All that said, if your fueling or other parameters aren't se...

Re: MS3 pre-1.6 alpha 3 firmware

Does MAP prediction work only with positive TPSdot or also with negative (lifting)? I noticed some hard bogs after enabling prediction but only on lift. I believe it only runs on accel not decel. You can pull fuel on decel in a few other ways to help with bog, like with time-based accel (based on t...

Re: [Sync Issue] Consistent sync loss when cranking, VR sensor

You could increase skip pulses a good bit and still sync (properly) pretty quickly. I would try to do some of that.

Re: EAE effective timeline question

EAE is always active when enabled. It just reaches equalibrium when not in a transient condition.

Re: Enhanced Accel Enrich and TPS.dot Question

They work together, though I would only add any time-based if you absolutely need it after tuning EAE.

Typically this is only needed on high-strung engines with big throttles or ITBs.

Re: Altitude (BAP) correction

Sample at startup by itself won’t help unless you key off and back on again as you go up/down in altitude. You’ll need to adjust the barometric pressure correction and you may want to use the % baro load algorithm instead of plain speed density. You may also want to add a real-time barometric pressu...

Re: MS3 pre-1.6 alpha 3 firmware

This is in relation to the 1.6 firmware real life testing and reporting issues, not a future feature request not to mention that this beta firmware is already under MS3 Development. My understanding here is to report issues with the use of this firmware. Right? This is an issue. Not an issue with a...

Re: 1987 RX7 NA rotary tuning theory questions

You should use table-based staging, and try to get your deadtimes as close to “real” as possible. You shouldn’t need to run your secondaries all the time to avoid the staging stutter if you turn them on at a high enough percentage to avoid non-linear pulse-widths and/or going below actual deadtime. ...

Re: closed loop/ open loop idle settings

From an idle standpoint, you shouldn't be doing anything closed-loop until you can get it stable and at the RPM you want using warmup-only for the idle valve, and normal VE and ignition tables. Once you have it idling stable that way, then you can turn on closed-loop idle and tune that to give you t...

I'm not having the issues you are on my own engine. I'll dig around though and see if I can find my old rx7 settings from when I had one. I used EAE on that with no issues.

Re: RX-7 Rotary Overrun Sanity check

When I had a rotary engine car, I used to leave the OMP connected and working but force it to its minimum "throttle shut" flow. That way at least I'm getting something, and I can use overrun fuel cut.

Re: MS3 pre-1.6 alpha 3 firmware

It should go to your max duty when transitioning from off boost to on boost, but not after you have been in boost and you stay there. Does that match what you see? I can look at your logs a bit later, but most likely you are running into behavior we added on purpose based on James’ drag racing car ...

ICE motors don't idle at stoich. (most)
This isn’t true. Most engines will idle fine at stoich if you have your tune smooth and your ignition timing right.

Am I being taught a lesson here ? Punished for something ?
We are trying to simplify down to the most basic configuration.

With that one wideband connected, is the termination resistor configured to “on” in that wideband unit?

Hey James, thanks for the release. I have been working for quite a while with load prediction, charge sensing, and transient combustion analysis in the industry pressure prediction plays a huge role in refining transient fueling/transient air calibrations. Can you go into more detail as to how this...
