Re: recirculation diode question

James,

Thanks, that does help. I knew there was something about it I was forgetting. Still puzzled as to why I could not open the solenoid without the recirc diode, though.

recirculation diode question

I am looking for an explanation as to why we do not use a recirculation diode on injectors but do on PWM idle (for example)? The MS1 v3 schematic has D5 and D7 which feed the PWM (Low Z) circuit and the Flyback clamp circuit. If these are omitted (in my build and I guess many High Z injector builds)...

Re: how to set up narrow band O2 in MS3

Problem resolved. The problem was a bad ground. I am using an adapter to my OEM harness and somewhere in the OEM harness, my signal ground goes 'open'. I was able to find it because it went totally open - no function at all. It must've been a high impedance through an internal harness connection of ...

how to set up narrow band O2 in MS3

I am running a very old version of MS3. Been running it for a long time with no issues. Well, my LC1 died and I ordered a spartan from 14point7.com. In the mean time, I want to run my old narrow band. I have forgotten just about everything it has been so long. Been running WB closed loop for since M...

Re: Config error "Battery Voltage Low"

James, Thanks for the help... It was my fault (actually, an open :-)). I have a 12V raw input to that circuit and it was not present on my jimstim. I installed the jumper and now it runs on the bench. I'll better document my install. I think what happened is the msdroid tried to contact it via BT an...

Re: Config error "Battery Voltage Low"

James,

Thanks for the quick reply. Across the boot jumper it is 0. This is with an MS1, MS2 or MS3 plugged into the socket. Interestingly, the MS2 appears to run in this condition. How do I go about fixing this?

Config error "Battery Voltage Low"

I have been running this MS3 for years. It is a V3 board with the MS3 card on it. I was doing some engine work and upon restart first couple times it started and ran fine. (warning possible red herring) Then I tried to use the msdroid app to look at the engine parameters. I then tried to start it an...

Re: BT serial connection info

No, that is not the schematic I used. I believe the pertinent schematic copied is actually on the MS3 daughter card schematic. I would send a copy that James sent me a long time ago, but do not want to pass on something that James does not want passed. If it is ok'd by the moderators, I can pass it ...

Same here! bluetooth worked first time and negotiated a link faster than the other android app. I am using a retired sparkfun board with an external antenna: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/retired/158 I get signal in my house when the car is running on the street! about 30+ feet. This one was $65...

Re: Feature Suggestions for Graph Editing

Is no-one else experiencing this problem with editing 2d graphs? I cannot edit them with my phone. The point moves all over when I edit it on my phone. A tablet would be a bit better, but a tablet cannot go in the car dock right in my field of vision. I've been looking for this functionality in the ...

Re: Feature Suggestions for Graph Editing

Like I mentioned, the table and 2d curve editing does not appear the same in both portrait and landscape modes. Try it. In portrait mode, the tuning sections slide off to the left when you select a section (i.e. VE map) and the table fills the page. In landscape mode, the section headings do not sli...

Re: Feature Suggestions for Graph Editing

My thoughts, When editing, the dialog should shift left (maybe leave the carat so showing so it can be used as a 'back button') and the graph should fill the screen. Update: I just tried it in portrait mode and that is how it works... (D'oh). I never tried it in portrait mode as it is always in my c...

Re: will MS3 1.2.4 work with MSdroid?

A couple more questions... I have been using this for a few weeks, now. It is still a little rough and I understand that an new revision is in the works. I am still using my old firmware and have not yet updated that. I have been using the editing feature to tweak some of the settings. How does msdr...

will MS3 1.2.4 work with MSdroid?

I am running an antique version of MS3 and am considering updating a bit to a later version. Are there any restrictions as to which version of MS3 we can run?

Re: VR problems?

I just opened up the log you posted. It looks like you have an erratic signal on the tach input. What does the tach input look like to the megasquirt? Do you have the correct number of teeth configured in TS? The vr input signal should look like a sine wave just like in the noise presentation (put y...

Re: VR problems?

What engine is this on? Is it running wasted spark 4 cyl? Are you running resistor plugs (these are required)? Are your coils grounded to the engine block? The noise presentation has good advice and should be followed. Having an oscilloscope is quite useful in finding noise. I did not see them in t...

Re: legacy *.ini help

Cleveland,

Glad it is working and that I was able to help. Surprisingly, I was still able to find every version of the MS1-HiRes that I edited even though I have not run it since '07.

What kind of car/engine is it on?
