length of log changing

length of log changing
I have been trying to sort out an issue with my MS2 for over a month now, and noticed tonight that every time I would open a log the length/number of records increases, and I am not getting a correct reading at least on afr, I can watch it go over 17 on TS gauge cluster, but the log will only show as high as 14.x. The problem I am having with the car is that, most noticeably at light cruise, the afr will jump back and forth between 11.x and 18.x while staying centered in a cell, only other thing that appears to move is battery voltage. This is a '93 Mustang with a turbo 302 and an MS PNP gen 1. I don't want to give up yet. I will have to bring my laptop in the house tomorrow So I can attach a log, though it seems it won't be of much help since that seems to be acting goofy.

I'm not sure on that. What sort of variance is in the log length? If you open the log in a text editor, how many records to you see?noticed tonight that every time I would open a log the length/number of records increases
With an MS1 O2 Voltage is logged as O2, then MLV converts that to AFR based on the Wideband you have selected. Make sure the selected Wideband in MLV matches the one selected in TunerStudio.I am not getting a correct reading at least on afr, I can watch it go over 17 on TS gauge cluster, but the log will only show as high as 14.x.
In MS2 and MS3, AFR is logged directly by TunerStudio so MLV just displays what is in the log like with pretty much all other fields.

Re: length of log changing
I think you may have a different though on when it is data logging that it actually is.
When you select Start DataLog and the file save as dialog opens, it does not start that data log until your select Ok on the Save as dialog.
It will stop data logging when you either select Stop Data Log, or if you select Start Data Log it will stop the current log and not start the next log until you select Ok in the save as dialog again.
For your idle occilations, something I have found as an easy way to keep that under control is use the spark table to set up a wall at idle that it doesn't want to go through. similar to this spark table:

Re: length of log changing
Makes sense on the datalog, will give that a try. Any ideas on what is causing the afr to bounce around like it is?

Re: length of log changing
That would be caused by the oscillating idle. Notice while it is oscillating it is going through VE cells from 35 to 45, that is a 28% fueling difference.Any ideas on what is causing the afr to bounce around like it is?
try flattening out those cells that it is idling through and also pigeon hold the idle into a tighter range with the timing map like above.

Re: length of log changing
That makes sense there. I will have to do a log at around 2k rpm, there and about 30 kpa afr really bounces around and the car bucks. Have set a block of cells the same, tracer doesn't move, but afr goes crazy.
Re: length of log changing
Thank you for the help on the datalogs . Got that right now, lol. Started a new thread on the afr/voltage issue in the ms2 section.
