MLV forgetting window sizing

Post by T3Bunny »

I am having a new odd issue I have never seen before... MLV is forgetting settings. This is a new development that comes around the time I upgraded both laptops. But I am thinking it is moved folders...

The big issue is everytime I reopen MLV, I have to reset and reconfigure my windows. The tuning tables on the right open too big, I have to slide them over (before I updated this laptop, it wouldn't even let me grab to resize the windows!).

I moved my TS Projects folder and stuck it in dropbox. Most of what I deal with is in there, and both laptops will open TS in the same way. But wherever the folder for MLV is that retains such info, isn't either getting synched, or something along those lines. I really want to be seamlessly looking at MLV the same on both machines. And for it not to forget the sixing on screens...

It would seem to be something I broke? How do I fix it?

Is the overall window position, last dir lost, selected Calculated Fields, etc?

If it is just this, that is different... Currently it sizes the tables every time you open a log based on the font size selected in:
Options --> Table Font Size

This is from when the divider wasn't movable... It should probably be updated to change the saved size based on the position.

It is just the position/size of the tables on the right side. It remembers everything else as far as I can tell.

There is so so so many little upgrades and tweaks buried in MLV, that before I post up wants/issues I need to go looking for to see if there is already a built in solution... Like export/import settings! But I think I could suggjest an improvement along these lines to normal operation.

I like the way Tuner Studio handles projects. Like reopens last project (if option selected). I would love for MegaLogViewer to do the same. Yes, it remembers the last pathway to open, but I would like it to actually open last viewed datalog.

In TS we have dashboards, and it remembers custom dashboards for each project (as you of course know!). This would be helpful in MLV. Right now I am hunting some weird issues related (seemingly) to how mad the other half is at my car, and if she is riding in it or not... :lol: So I have been reconfiguring my field selects to look for specific things. But when I am opening up a datalog for something else, I want to see the "normal" field selects for that project. Or whatever custom configuration I have come up with.

I don't know how you do it Phil! It is amazing to see ideas get used and implemented and how this software has evolved over the years. I could not even imagine going back to Megatune or MST3k!!!

I agree with the changelog requests posts. It would be nice to look and see what has been upgraded/fixed. But if that takes too much time away from you fixing things, don't bother!!! 8)
