Logging of raw data

Post by m.s.t. »

Hello guys,

If got a few questions which are driving me nuts at the moment.
I have an engine connected to an engine dyno and I would like to use the megasquirt (MS3 with MS3X expansion) as datalogger. The goal is to create a BSFC map for engineering purpose.

I want to use loadcells for logging actual torque and actual fuel consumption, connected in a bridge of wheatstone this would give me 0-5v signals. I could input these signals in the MS3X in the EGO2 and the EXT_MAP analog inputs.
I'm also planning on putting a VR sensor with triggerwheel (or just 1 tooth) on the axle between the engine and dyno to log actual RPM (since it has a transfercase), I figure I could input this signal into the Cam input??

Now, I won't be using the MLV to analyse the data, I'm using matlab to do this and yes this works I allready made a log and imported the data in matlab, this is fine.
But I want to connect some signals as discribed above and have the raw data logged, how can I setup tunerstudio to log these signals as raw data. Data processing will be done in matlab, I just need to get some values.

Hope someone can provide me with an answer.

Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what your question is?

You've posted in tge Megalogviewer section but say you aren't going to use it??

Maybe this is actually an MS3 general question?

The question is how do/can I setup tunerstudio or megalogviewer to record raw data (voltage) from the pin's I'm planning to use? For example a 0-5v signal connected to EGO2 and EXT_MAP analog inputs.

I thought this was the correct section because im using the datalogger from tunerstudio, which is related to megalogviewer?

Maybe james is right and this should be ms3 general or tunerstudio section, can a mod move this thread to the correct section if needed?

15.4 Generic Sensor Inputs
The Generic Sensors allows optional analogue inputs to be connected and easily recorded in datalogs or used
as parameters in other features.
I guess this what I'm looking for, and I think I figured out how it works. Please correct me when I'm wrong.

Advanced Engine=>Generic Sensor Inputs=>Set source to pin in use, transformation=Raw.
I guess in this way I could setup 16 sensors and log raw data.

The only thing I'm not sure is why I can't find these parameters in my logs.
Now I have a datalog from my last run and I had all generic sensor inputs set to: Off. because setting this to off there are no parameters created in the logfile?
I can't test right now if setting a generic sensor input will create a parameter in my log file, so please confirm.

Greetings

Turning them off does indeed turn them off.

Thanks for your inputs!
Starting to like the megasquirt more everytime!

Everything is so simple when knowing how it works...
