Re: RPM/s²
You can add a calculated field to do that in the registered version.

Re: RPM/s²
What time scale is RPMdot??
Always doing things the hard way, MS2 sequential w/ v1.01 mainboard, LS2 coils. 80 mile/day commuter status.

Change in RPM per second.

Thought so, so he already has almost what he needs.

Re: RPM/s²
so rpmdot is rpm/s² ((rpm/s)/s) ? Thanks

Re: RPM/s²
No. RPMdot is dRPM/dt. You are after the next derivative.

Yes what are you up to here? You always come up with cool things!
98 VW golf gti vr6 turbo 8:5:1 cr ported and polished full ferrea race valves train 276 cams custom short runner intake Borge 366 sx-e turbo forge wossner pistons, balanced rotating mass, limited slip 6 speed deka 750Lbs injectors on ms3pro completed AWD swap
Re: RPM/s²
I'm working on a way to make a meaningful calculation of power or torque produced and compare it to changes in ignition timing. Then display them in MLV with scatterplots.
Lots of work and lots of things involved.
Last plot I made gave some info based on which I adjusted my timing tables. Still have to test it to see if it did have an effect.
But I got sidetracked (as always) with the install of the IOX (accelerometer, 8 O2's, oil temp and....). Results calculated vs actually measured should be even more correct.

Re: RPM/s²
What were you planning on using rate of change of acceleration for?

Re: RPM/s²
You need acceleration for that, not rate of change of acceleration - surely?

Re: RPM/s²
It's similar to what happens on a dyno when you accelerate an engine based on a fixed load and the time it needs to go from say 2000 rpm to 6000 rpm in a sweep test.jsmcortina wrote:You need acceleration for that, not rate of change of acceleration - surely?
James
The faster it can get from one point to the other with the load of the car working against the engine the stronger the engine.

i.e. RPM/sec not RPM/sec/sec

Re: RPM/s²
We are talking about angular accelaration are we ?
Rpm is a bit of a misnomer as you are calculating based on rotations per second...

Re: RPM/s²
Yes, the first derivative of engine speed. You have been asking about the second derivative which I don't understand.

Re: RPM/s²
Torque (and thus HP) are already available gauge/calcs in TS and MLV.
I have considered setting up another manually switchable ignition map with more or less timing and toggling back and forth to log changes. Would be neat to be able to automate that and have it pick the better value like VEAL for ignition timing...
With a knock module and reasonable limits it wouldn't have to be unsafe.

Re: RPM/s²
If only what those give as results would be real world numbers I would agree.
At a given point I was making a comparison based on the amount of fuel injected with the theoretical value of BSFC to see what the possible HP/TQ number would be and the would vary enormously.

Yves has had trouble with TS's calculated variables:piledriver wrote:Torque (and thus HP) are already available gauge/calcs in TS and MLV.

I asked for a screenshot of his power dialog box several times but never saw one.
Re: RPM/s²
What does a screen out of TS say about the calculations ? There is only so much you can see on that.Laminar wrote:Yves has had trouble with TS's calculated variables:piledriver wrote:Torque (and thus HP) are already available gauge/calcs in TS and MLV.
