I searched and found a couple of post about using 3rd party apps which i did tonight with Excel (what a PITA), and a post saying the feature was added but not exactly how to do it.
Intuitively I drag selected a section of log so I had a start and finish but it seemed my R-Click options were to delete the selection (NOOoo I want to save the selection), "delete before cursor position", or "delete after cursor after" (should be Position?).
I think I'm just not seeing the forest through the trees.
Edit: So I bit the bullet and deleted before then deleted after and did find "export loaded log as" so I believe this is the correct method to trim and export the log correct?
Also it didn't overwrite my big log file when i exited so that's good. (I marked it as read only but it showed no signs of trying to write the file)
Also what would be cool that might be there that I cant find is a multi input search like RPM<1000 AND AFR>15.0:1 AND...
This is the registered version 4.1.10

Re: Trim and search log in MLV
It would be good to have a Delete all but selected or Keep selected option.
A free form expression search should be doable.

Re: Trim and search log in MLV
Thanks for the quick reply Phil, yes a r-click "save selected section as" or "export selected section as" would be cool.
Im often looking for that instance I want to review where xyz happened. I know it bucked letting out the clutch because it went lean for a sec or popped letting off from a pull so a more robust search would be great.

Re: Trim and search log in MLV
That would be called a 'CROP log to selection'-action perhaps?
Or manually; Select part of log, CRTL-c, CTRL-a, DEL-key, then CTRL-v the Paste only the selection again.
I don't have the full version of MLV but I think it would create a copy of the log first before I would start poking and editing in it.

Re: Trim and search log in MLV
I understand now that it it is a Viewer hence the V in the name and it does not try to save the file on exit nor does it even have a menu item to save the file if you modify it normally. We are stuck thinking like we are using an excel, word or other file,we are just viewing it not editing it.
