MS2 PDF documentation - online viewer

Post by jsmcortina »

Here's an experimental online viewer for the PDFs.

It uses HTML5 and is supposed to work on recent browsers. It doesn't work on IE8 or my Android phone.

Tested ok on Chrome V36, Mozilla Firefox 31 and iPhone.

Try these:

http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf-viewer/v ... de-3.3.pdf
http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf-viewer/v ... de-3.3.pdf
http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf-viewer/v ... ce-3.3.pdf
http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf-viewer/v ... de-3.3.pdf

To provide page links, open up the sidebar and right-click on a page thumbnail then "Copy link address"

Be patient, it takes a while on the first load. (Perhaps too long to be useful?)

The speed seems fine to me! From clicking link to first page display it's only 4-6 seconds. If I hold the page down key and go ahead, say, 50 pages, it takes a few moments to catch up but it's not too bad.

Of course that's on a fiber landline connection. Maybe not so quick on a mobile device?

Well the second link to me takes between 30 second and 1 minute so it is a long wait. And I'm on a fast desktop with a fiber connection too. And if I come back to it after opening the first one, I still have to wait but that may be a browser setup?

EDIT: Ignore this. See below.

Ignore my previous post. I gave it another go and it just takes a few seconds. Firefox gets slow after a while for some reason.

Works on my Nexus 4, Android v. 4.4.4.
2nd link took about 15 seconds to load and scrolling down was only delayed by 2 seconds max.
