Programmable on/off outputs would be a good place to start.

i am not sure where that is located.
I see where there is an option under the extended tab called "table switching control" and it has what looks like a place to set an rpm output but there is no reference to what pin(wire) is associated with it

It has nothing to do with Table Switching.
The On/Off outputs are in the manual here:

Pin 16 Accel LED ,yellow/black
http://www.microsquirt.info/uswiring.htm
http://www.megamanual.com/ms2/spare.htm
From memory pin 16 grounds the wire when it switches and I used 12v feed to a LED via a resistor.

hi,
if you have several outputs left you can do a multi area shiftlight with different light colors too.
cheers,
manu
