Engine dies when connect to TunerStudio. Solved.

Post by Marissp »

Hello.

Engine with 36-1 trigger wheel with hall and stock distributor.

I have a problem, i use ms2 firmware 3.3.3, when i connect pc with tunerstudio to engine, engine just dies, gets lost sync, engine stops, Tuner studio stays online. Tried with rs232 to usb cable, the same, tried with bluetooth dongle, the same, reinstalled tunerstudio - the same, tried connect via bluetooth to msdroid (phone) happens the same, engine dies just after connection is made, about 5 seconds. If i start engine without connection to pc or msdroid via bluetooth everything runs fine. Tried different firmware too, got the same.

any suggestions? Problems with 5v supply maybe? Hall takes 5v from tps wire.

Hi,

I have that same adapter which I use in TS and MSDroid with no problem at all For 3 years. My MS2 has 3.3.1 installed. Try installing the previous firmware.

Is the laptop powered from the car's electrical system or on battery power?

Is your hall sensor is designed for a 5V power supply? Many are 12V.

My hall sensor is Cherry VN101503, in datasheet it says "Supply Voltage 3.8 to 24 VDC" If i set data rate in tuner studio to 0 reads per second, engine runs normally, if i set to 1 reads per second, after about 30 seconds engine dies, if i set 15 reads per second then after 5 sec engine dies.
