dash2 pro and can. how do you make it work??
do you need to load configuration file into the dash2?
I have done just after instructions on this page
https://www.race-technology.com/wiki/in ... NInterface

But I dont get any comms with the dash2. the can indicator in upper right corner should then be on

should be nice with a how to, this is just not so easy as it seams with this dash2pro.

Have you configured your Megasquirt to enable Dash Broadcasting ?
Have you confirmed that your Megasquirt is wired internally for CAN ?

This page https://www.race-technology.com/wiki/in ... stallation shows that CANH/L are on pins 20/19 of connector A.

If you feel that their documentation needs updating, you are best to contact THEM.

No idea. Ask them.

EDIT: As it happens, I have a DASH2PRO here for testing and do not have an external CAN adapter. As far as I know it DOES connect directly to the MS2.

So you run without CAN adaptor? (interface)
answer I got from them:
The ECU license is only needed when you are connecting the ECU to the dash directly, i.e. without the serial interface or CAN adaptor as this enables the dash to decode the info from the ECU without the need for the interface to decode this already.

So how do I get this ECU license? will it work without adaptor then, slight confusing
It would be better if there where guides to how to set up things, other than just say, it works

Connect RT CAN Hi to CAN Hi from the MS ECU
Connect RT CAN Lo to CAN Lo from the MS ECU

but where do I find RT CAN Hi and RT CAN Lo?
I have tried pin 2 and 7 in the CAN 1 d-sub connector

Those are the pins I'm using and the DASH2PRO is showing CAN data packets received.

To receive CAN data, you need to use the DASH2 PRO Configuration programme and enable CAN receiving.

I received this from Race Technology support:
The CAN input files are available on request but not available to download,
if the DASH2 PRO is ordered with CAN functionality we will ask the customer
which ECU they are connecting to, and subsequently configure the CAN inputs
for them. E.g. the file will be loaded for them.

I do have the file, but it sounds like you need to obtain it directly and I probably shouldn't distribute it. It is called: MegaSquirt ECU CAN DL1 SD - DASH2 PRO.CAN

Do you have the required license file to receive CAN data? That's needed too.

so the adaptor is just a way to avoid the license then

where do you get the license files then?

The adapter is needed for earlier products that do not have native CAN.

Using the native CAN reduces wiring clutter and I would expect and hope is cheaper!!

I received an updated license file today for testing and as expected I'm able to see on the dash the Megasquirt data that is sent on the Dash Broadcast. The only slight niggle is that temperatures showed up in degF, I was able to enter a custom formula to fix that.

For MS3 1.5 I have added support to receive the GPS and accelerometer data that can be broadcast from the dash.

Hi james,

I currently have a dash2pro for testing purposes too. It's a good product but I notice a little sound when back light is set to max. Do you notice that too ?

Beside that this is really a good dash and there is many things that can be do with it.

I wasn't aware about this page : https://www.race-technology.com/wiki/in ... NInterface

So I build a full config from megasquirt.dbc. This work well.
red-racing wrote:dash2 pro and can. how do you make it work??

Dash2pro need a licence to activate CAN. Do you have it ?

Taken from their website :
CAN reception (15 channel license):
With this option the unit can decode any CAN data from either the vehicles main CAN stream or CAN based aftermarket ECU. This data can be mapped to any RT channels for saving or sending to serial port. Up to 105 CAN receive channels per unit, in multiples of 15 (one £100 licence gets you 15 channels). Messages loadable using .dbc files. Data rates of up to 1Mbit and 11 or 29 bit addressing.

This is an option that is not include in the basic pack. You can buy as much licence as you want to go up to 105 channels (7 licences max). A channel in there language is a data (i.e : rpm is a channel).

James
Also, CAN broadcasting is also an option that need a licence to be available.

This Dash, as Megasquirt too, is compatible with Trackvision software : https://www.trackvision.net/

With this software you can ad informations on any videos like this :

The Dash2 cannot be directly connected to MS, it needs a serial or CAN based ECU interface to do so (£150 + VAT).
The Dash2 PRO has the CAN interface built in thus can be directly connected to MS. However, the interface is disabled and you need buy the CAN license to enable it (£100 + VAT).
