any one used vr6 obd2 throttle body?

Postby asumsatlil » Tue Dec 05, 2017 1:13 pm

any one used a vr6 obd2 throttle body with drive by cable, does the tps and pwm idle valve work ok? i beleive it will work, just asking for if anyone has experience in it, before i go ahead and get to work.

heres a previous post i read of people talking about it but no one verifies if it worked ok: viewtopic.php?f=94&t=21765

i also have this pin out for the connector

Looks like 2 wire idle control. Does it use PWM?

No its a bidirectional DC motor and needs a half bridge circuit to control properly. While you can gain very rough control over it with PWM the results are less than satisfying.

Not sure if this guy runs that TB but he has run the OEM ECU from VW for the DBW throttle body and then uses MS for the rest. He might be the one to ask ?

It's NOT a DBW throttle body it simply has an idle control motor attached to the throttle blade. And trust me I have been doing this for YEARS. This is what you need to build to proper control that style throttle with MS using PWM:

The 96-99 tb is non dbw but used a servo to control the idle with small throttle plate movements.

I am thinking the stepper output could be made to work with some code changes.
