1zz coil pack pinout and dwell

can anyone verify this pinout, trigger signal, and dwell for the 1zz coils?



crank dwell - 3.5ms
12v dwell - 2.5ms

to wire:

-run 12v power and ground to coil

-run 1k resistors off tops of R26, R27, R29, and JS11 --> their own 2N4033 (pin#2)
-run +5v --> each 2N4033 (pin#3)
-finally run signal from each 2N4033 (pin#1) --> db37

-ground the signal

update wiring.

just saw two guys using this setup to fire the coils:



- take the spark signals from BOTTOMs of R26, R27, R29, and run a 1k resistor from js11.
- take 5v pull up from protoarea via 330ohm resistors
- take trigger signal from 5v pullup and send them to db37

success with dwell settings:
8 - 10 ms cranking
2.5 - 3 ms running

don't know if they are SPARK NORMAL (LOW), or SPARK INVERTED (HIGH). by default NORMAL, but bad dog mentioned he tried INVERTED. ???

still wondering about the pinout. if anyone can confirm

anyone know how different the 2zz coils are?

GND = Ground - BROWN
IGT = Trigger Signal (+5V) - DIFFERENT COLOR FOR EACH COIL
IGF = Spark event confirmation (leave it not connected) - BLUE
+12V - BLACK

I used 1zz coils but switched to toyota tacoma coils since they are longer and fit better in my case. My experience is that despite the minor differences in size, mounting hole, etc all these coils are interchangeable.

I take it you guys run the 2n4033 as mentioned in the manual and not the 2n2222 that could be alternatively used?

had the pinout right.

im actually going to try using the 2N3904 thats already in there (hooked up to the spark LEDs).

They dont have a bad rating compared to what they will be used for. plus they are already in the circuits. (well 3 of them)

i used pn2222a as far as I remember.
