Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
HI
i´m a absolute beginner and want to run a MS2 (upgradet from MS1 today) on a Daihatsu Charade GTti ( 3 cyl 1 liter turbo)
It has a 24/3 wheels (on cam)
(see old thread in MS1 forum: http://www.msextra.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=34268)
Can someone help me to run both wheels ?
maybe this MOTEC file is helpful :

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
If you have a spare CAS then removing two teeth like MOTEC suggest for their ECU will work with MS2/Extra right now, but you will need to buy or make a conditioning circuit for the second VR input.
However, we always try to use standard sensors and CAS etc. without cutting them up. A future version of MS2/Extra will likely support an option to support your trigger arrangement without cutting.

Hi James,
Any news on whether the 24-3 trigger arrangement is now supported?
Thanks

Support for that was added for that quite a long while ago. Set Dual Wheel and then set "every cylinder" for the cam speed.

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
Another quickie - do I need to install the 1k pullup for the V3 board as described here:
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/ignition.html#vrv3 ?
Does seem a bit odd that this was not designed onto the PCB if it is common to use this for VR setting. Using my JimStim I did need to set the pullup for the MS3 to see the RPM, so I am guessing I need the proto-pullup?
Thanks

A VR input should not have that 1k pullup. Set the pots as per VR input. The stim doesn't output a real VR signal, so can sometimes require different settings.

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
Hi again,
I have now upgraded to the MS3X board and am having some trouble getting my JimStim to provide the correct signals. I have lost rpm.
I had it set up with the settings provided above and used the 12v pullup on the stim board to get it to work. Now with the MS3X I had to reset the settings in ignition and I have a not-synced error. This is despite trying both with and without pullup.
Will it work with JimStim? I am now trying to simulate a 24 tooth crank wheel at cam speed (so really a 12 tooth no missing teeth crankwheel), with a 1 tooth cam sensor signal (as I will remove 2 teeth from the current 3 tooth wheel). What should I set the DIP switches as?
OK, maybe I need to ask that on the jbperf.com forum, but my log in doesn't work there and I cant seem to use my email address again? Help?
Can you give me a list of settings that I can use for the setup I describe, to use at first with a distributor and coil?
Many thanks in advance!
Greg

There isn't a 24/1 mode in the stim.

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
James,
Sorry, I realised that today. I can set it up with any trigger for now to check running.
What about the configuration settings? Do I still use Dual Wheel? 12 teeth on the crank, 1 cam - there is no option for this.
Can sequential be done without missing teeth on the crank, but with 1 tooth TDC cam?

If you use dual wheel mode you can set it to 12 crank teeth and 1 cam tooth. The option is definitely there. And yes you can run sequential with this setup.

Jean,
Brilliant thanks! Out of interest, what is the closest tirgger wheel setup I could use on the JimStim to check my signals?

I misread your question.
24/2 exists and is equivalent to 12/1

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
Gents,
Now that I have set the MS3X card set up as the second input (cam) in TunerStudio, how can I still run the JimStim? Will I need to take the tach signal from the jumper on the JimStim board up to the MS3X connector? At the moment I still have no tech signal when JimStim is connected (even though 24-2 wheel now chosen).
Is there a way to run JimStim with the MS3X cam input at all?
Or should I reconfigure to use the JS10 cam input for now and check the circuit like this? Then how am I checking the running of the MS3X card?
Thanks in advance

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
The easiest way to test the MS3X is to use the JimStimX: http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/jims ... p-473.html or http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/jims ... p-474.html. Otherwise you'll need to connect the 2nd trigger on the JimStim directly to the MS3X cam input pin on the DB37. As long as you don't have that connected, you won't see an RPM reading.

Hi,
Is there any way to run the jim stim so that I get an rpm input, whilst the MS3X card is connected? I have tried my original settings, but now RPM does still not work. I guess I would have to disconnect the MS3X before it will work again?

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
Hi,
Yes, to clarify, I meant WITHOUT the JimStimX or using a wire. I.e. should I be able to revert to the settings I had previously when using the MS3 alone and it works? It seems that with the MS3X plugged in, the original settings I had do not work, even though the configuration I have set up does not 'use' the MS3X inputs.
One other question - can the injection outputs from MS3X be re-ordered? Once they are wired, can I change the firing order in the configuration somewhere, or (as I have read) is it really a fixed order that must be considered in the wiring?
Many thanks!

That doesn't seem right. The MS3X won't have any effefct. It seems that with the MS3X plugged in, the original settings I had do not work, even though the configuration I have set up does not 'use' the MS3X inputs.

Re: Daihatsu (Denso) 24/3 Tooth Magnetic (3 Cyl)
James,
Thanks for the very efficient reply!
OK, so something is wrong then. When I plug in the MS3X, even with the setings as per the original (working) configuration. I dont see RPM anymore. I will trouble shoot a little further and then come back with some details.
