Husaberg FE550 Engine 1 cylinder, Tach Input Configuration

Post by HansWurst »

Hello Guys,

I've got a problem with the Tach Signal of my engine.
I got a signal, but i don´t know is it right. Currently the engine is on a engine test bench.
I don´t start the motor yet. The test bench can boost the engine, but on MegaTune I got a bad RPM signal when I do so.
My Trigger wheel, is a wheel, with one deepening. The deepening have an angle size of approximately 10 deg. My Sensor is a coil sensor.
I'd used an osciloscope and saw a rising and falling edge directly in series. The edge has 4V.
In MegaTune BasicSetup /Tach Input is set :
Spark Mode: Trigger Return
Trigger Angle/Offset: 15 deg
Angle beetween main and return: 180 deg
Ignition Input Capture: Rising Edge.
As I said , I saw a RPM signal,but it´s fluctuating and i think it´s not right.
I'm using MS2 v3.57 with Ms 2 Extra 2.0.1 firmware.
Have anyone an idea or a solution???

best regards Hanswurst

Trigger return isn't going to work with that.

Use basic trigger.

However, I'm not sure if the (old) 2.0.1 code has good support for single cylinder engines.
You might get a better result by selecting a 2 cylinder engine as you will be firing the coil once every 360 degrees.

At the least I would upgrade to the current release code 2.1.0d.

At first: Sorry for posting my question twice, I was unsure which is the right subforum.

And THX for your reply.

I'll read the part about basic trigger in the manual again and tomorrow I reply to your advice an flash the firmware to 2.1.0d and take another try.

Now I get a stable signal from the VR Sensor, the problem is that the value is twice it should be.
In the 3rd gear it should be 2700 rpm and I get an RPM signal of 5400 RPM in MegaTune.

My settings now are:

Ignition settings:

Spark mode: Basic trigger
Triger Angle : 0
Skip Pulse 3
Iginiton Input Capture: Falling Edge ( In Osciloscope got an rising edge but in the manual is writen that ms convert the signal)
At : D14

In Engine Constants I tried one and two cylinder configuration but the result is the same.
I thought I've read in an other thread that doubling the number of cylinder in engine constants can fix the problem. But I wont work.
Another idea for me?

It works!!!

Apperantly I have no typical application! The sentence "In typical applications, you will be running the input signal from pin 24 through the optoisolator (4N25, U4) which inverts this signal, so you need to use the opposite of what the sensor/module puts out. " in the manual confuses me.
Because of this I took Falling Edge in Ignition Input Capture.

Now it works whit number of cylinder on 2 and Ignition Input Capture in Risign Edge.
The other values I didnt modify.

THX for help, tomorrow I will start the enginge, hope it will work.
