EAE issues

I was reading some posts about EAE and I couldnt solve my problem. Here is what is happening....

Using normal AE I get too much fuel on small TPS movements and not enough on higher movements. It runs really well, but no matter how little I make the lower amounts, I get too much fuel on slight changes and not enough on higher ones. Now I tried to use AEA and there I cannot get enough fuel at all. When I look at my pulses, I notice that I am getting about the same pulse width no matter what TPS % change accurs. ex....when I add a little throttle, my pulse jumps to 11ms. When I stab the throttle it jumps to about the same or slightly higher. I use about 0.2ms @ 100%/sec and it is too much still. Throttle signal is very stable so it doesnt seam to be TPS sensor. When I use AEA and try to accel, my pulse width goes up by just 1ms or so which causes it to go lean and stumble hard. Cant even get it to rev using EAE. I adjust the tables but cannot get enough fuel in EAE mode. I seen other posts claiming to use BOTH EAE and normal EA but I see no options and when I go into one mode the other is disabled. I would like to get EAE running, I have tuned it on other vehicles but this one seams to be stubborn.

example of my AE values...

100=0.2ms
200=1.0s
400=2.5
800=8ms

Time=0.3 seconds

Now when I rev the motor and get a reading of around 150-200%/sec its too much fuel. When I stab it and get a movement of about 400-800%/sec it stubles for just an instant, but A/F hardly moves. (this seams to be lag in the ECU itself so I am ok with it) While driving A/F ratios hold nearly perfect accept when I accel just very slightly around 100-200%/sec it adds too much fuel and sumbles. When I watch my injector pulse....its adding about 11ms yet it should only add about 0.2-1.5ms pulse. On hard throttle accel while driving I get good repsonse and it goes from 2ms to about 11ms pulse width also.

Why does not pulse width act the same for nearly all TPS% changes yet I clearely have 0.2 for small amounts and 8ms for higher amounts?

How can I get both EAE and AE working at the same time?

How do I get more fuel in EAE mode? (adds about 1ms tops no matter how hard I hit the throttle or how little I hit it)

First, what firmware are you using. If you can't use both at the same time, you must be using a very old MS2 firmware.

Second, how many squirts/cycle are you using?

Third, what are your lag factors set to?

an msq and datalog of the issue occurring would be good.

I'm moving this to the MS2 forum for now.

Ken,

I've had a search round, could you direct me to a good EAE "primer" ? I've had loads of tries but I just can't make it work, I don't really understand what it does, how it's supposed to work, or how my changes are supposed to affect things...

Hi.
I had exactly the same problem. In my case a "unclean" Map signal was the root cause. If there is (just a tiny) delay in MAP due to some restriction/leakage in MAP hose you will most likely run into just those problems because the MS will not be able to "follow" the load change directly i.e. you well get a lean spot followed by rich mixture.

There is some documentation for it in the msextra manual that explains those things. Have you read that?
