question about cam sensor input on LS1

Post by nismoautoxr »

Car runs fine with crank only but does take a fairly long time to sync on startup . Will using the cam sensor input if available have any affect on this or anything else . Only reason I ask is there is a box that says "use cam if available " in LS1 decoder settings in tuner studio.

The MS2/Extra LS1 mode does not use the cam sensor under any circumstances.

Copy that and I understand since you are the author but curiosity got the best of me and I wanted to ask why there is that setting on the ignition settings page says use cam if available yes or no . Thats all that got me to wondering :D

It says "if available" but it isn't available for LS1 so the setting does nothing.
I've removed that setting in MS3 already and will likely do the same in MS2 if I get time.

gotcha thanks James . I appreciate you clearing that up.Would that explain why I cant get the cam sensor to show up on the tooth logger? I initially wired a cam sensor and ran it to VR2 on my diypnp whether i needed it or not but couldnt see it in diagnostics.

LS1 mode on MS2/Extra does not enable the cam input.

If you want to take a log of the crank and cam, switch to "log crank and cam" mode.
