No power/bogging down under load

Post by A112H »

Hi all,
So after weeks of reading, messing, playing and altering settings I have a good idle and strong revs from 2500rpm to 6500rpm at full throttle.
Problem is when I stomp on it from idle it will crack, bang, fart and die. If I ease the throttle, about 40%, until revs reach 2500-3000rpm and then go 100% it is fine.
This is all in nutral in the shed, driving is another issue.
When driving, anything over 25% throttle and it bogs down like out of fuel feeling. Back the throttle off and all is well.
I am using a MSII V3.57. Engine is a Mitsubishi Astron 4G54 2600cc, fitted with ITBs. Fuel system is Bosch 775 221cc injectors fed by a Bosch 044 pump from a surge tank that is fed by a high volume lift pump. Sensor are narrow band o2, water temp, MAP sensor, TPS.
Not sure what other info may be helpful but I do notice the TPS accel enrich is flashing on a lot, could it be flooding the engine?
How to I adjust this setting?
These are my maps, any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

can you post a log of the issue, how does it rev if you ease the throttle on?? if its better and revs fine than its more than likely an accel enrichment based problem, either to much or to little extra fuel for ae.

One of the hardest things to get right with ITB's is the AE. Without a wideband to give you AFR feedback you are just taking stabs in the dark I'm afraid.

Yep, easing the throttle on is okay. I think it is the accel enrich but don't know how to alter it.
This was the first decent setting.

Then I got to this

But that is all free revving, it just dies on the road :(

Not sure how to log stuff or which log you would want, to be honest

I feared this would be the answer Luke. So if I buy a wide band sensor what else do I need to make it work with the ecu?

On a different note, is there a way I can make the MS2 turn the thermo fan on and off?

Yes, There are multiple outputs that can be used for fan control.
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2 ... ms2options

You need to connect your wide band to the O2 input of your MS.
Then in Tuner Studio under the "tools" dropdown menu select "calibrate AFR"
Then pick your sensor model, or enter relevant #'s to define.
O2 sensor information is in the PDF here starting at page 21
http://www.msextra.com/doc/pdf/MS2V357_Hardware-3.3.pdf
Narrow band sensors cannot be used to tune as they are designed to be a switching type output lean/rich,
their variable output is not calibrated.

A wide band sensor needs a controller, I use Innovate like this
http://www.diyautotune.com/catalog/inno ... p-467.html
Correctly identify your MS ecu here
Read the Do's and Don'ts to avoid the common pitfalls before starting your install or asking for help
Use only these manuals other manuals may cause brain damage or worse.
