I'm running an MSII version 3.0 with code v2.88. The ignition was cutting out when the engine was cold so I got an new AC Delco module and installed it and then I had no fire so I tried another one and had the same result. When I reinstall the old module it fires right up. I hooked the scope up to the signal wire coming out of the module at the MS plug and cranked the engine and these are the screen shots of the two modules. The scan with all the spikes is the new module. Has anyone seen a waveform like this before and would that stop the MS from recognizing the signal?
Thanks

Re: Noisy signal from 8 pin HEI
Do you have a battery charger connected?
I think it's pretty clear that you have a bad module.
It is likely that the first module was not the cause of the "cutting out".
Make sure you have resistor plugs installed and you are not using low resistance plug wires.

Re: Noisy signal from 8 pin HEI
Negative on the battery charger. I'm fairly sure I know what was causing the original problem, the insulation on the pick-up coil wires in the distributor had degraded and they were touching. I was surprised it was running at all when I found them. I'm running NGK resistor plugs and AC Delco suppression wires. I have another new module that I need to try, but haven't had the chance.
