Can I test my Autometer tach from the Output Test Mode - I/O ?
Can't remember if I have my tach running off the IAC2 or IAC1A but either way.

Re: Can I test my Autometer tach from the 'Output Test Mode'
I'm running my signal off of IAC1A (DB37 Pin #25) and wondered if I need to "ensure that the jumpers in section 3.5.4.3 are connected" as per the manual pg.41. I'm not running an IAC valve and no CAN either.
Can someone confirm that it's just straight wiring to the tach ?

Yes I would verify the wiring on the mainboard.
I can also tell you that the stepper IACs work fine with Autometer tachs I have used them many times.

Re: Can I test my Autometer tach from the 'Output Test Mode'
Sorry prof315 .......do you mean yes I need all of the jumpers to make the tach work? Or yes I can just run the wire straight from the IAC1A to my tach and not run all the jumpers ?
I'm not running a stepper IAC valve.

The jumpers for the IAC are not a functional part of the circuit, you can jumper the needed outputs to where ever you wish.panel wrote:Sorry prof315 .......do you mean yes I need all of the jumpers to make the tach work? I'm not running a stepper IAC valve.
The jumpers are there because a legacy processor did not have IAC stepper support.

Re: Can I test my Autometer tach from the 'Output Test Mode'
To me it's confusing from the manual
So to me it reads that if I'm going to use one of the outputs (eg:IAC1A 0-12v) I have to make sure that the jumpers in section 3.5.4.3 are connected.Outputs IAC1A, IAC1B, IAC2A, IAC2B provide a 0-12V signal. If these are not used for a stepper idle valve,
they could be used directly for a tacho output. Ensure that the jumpers in section 3.5.4.3 are connected.

Re: Can I test my Autometer tach from the 'Output Test Mode'
Yes and no. If for sake of argument you want to use IAC1 for a tach output, you must have at least JSO or JS1 jumpered to a pin on the DB37. The pin doesn't matter as long as thats the one you connect to your tach input. The "standard" pin out would be JSO to IAC1A JS1 to IAC1B etc....

Yes. However, unless you have a very good reason not to, I would always suggest wiring in those jumpers to the pins mentioned.prof315 wrote:Yes and no. Thx rickb794 , prof315 and James.......I'll have a look on my board and see what I've done or needs to be done.

Re: Can I test my Autometer tach from the 'Output Test Mode'
Tested it last night using the Output Test Mode - I/O and it works. Just had to do the JSO to IAC1A jumper and voila and also the Tach input box to change it to IAC1A. Haven't driven it to confirm but feel very comfortable it will work......thx again.
