MSPNP2- Low MAP kpa reading vs baro kpa
Hey guys, have been playing with my MSPNP2 for over a week now and am having a hard time. My car will on start for a few seconds then die. Will run (roughly) with my map line disconnected, but once I attach it then dead. Cant datalog because it wont run. AFR goes lean while dying. Timing is correct, tps settings off, wo2 calibrated, ait temp working, and correct map sensor chosen (MPXH6400), baro correction 0. My MAP kpa is at 70, while baro is around 100kpa. Is there anything you guys could think causing this low map kpa reading? Have tried both 3.4.2 and 3.3.3 flash's. Trying to run a 9093 3.3.1 miata base map. Stock motor. Using newest version of TS. Any way non matching signature message while loading tune can cause this? Any help is appreciated. Have exhausted all my possibilities and countless hours online reading. Thanks in advance.
Re: MSPNP2- Low MAP kpa reading vs baro kpa
I have read thread after thread about people not having their map sensors/setting "calibrated" correctly, then advised to do so, and all problem are magically fixed. This is not my case! What else can cause me to have 70kpa with car off? Baro is around 97. Oddly, cars idles, somewhat with vac line off then. Have done all "calibrations" over and over and over. Can the sensor be bad? It changed values while sucking/blowing on it. Its a MSPNP2. And from what I read it can not be altered with inc files? Im struggling here, bad!

Here are some datalog with both map line disconnected and connected. Reads 77kpa with car off.

Please measure the voltage on the MAP selection jumper with the key on and engine off - let me know what you find. This will help us tell if it's a software or hardware issue here.

Assuming you do not live at about 8000 ft altitude, you MAP needs to be calibrated in Tuner Studio.

Would you like to guide me on how to do this other than under Tools->Calibrate MAP/Baro->and choose my sensor. Because I have the corrected one chosen. 10 times over, and it is still reading 77kpawhittlebeast wrote:Assuming you do not live at about 8000 ft altitude, you MAP needs to be calibrated in Tuner Studio.

Where exactly did you measure - can you post a picture of which pin?Bmrbob wrote:Jumper reads .03vMatt Cramer wrote:Please measure the voltage on the MAP selection jumper with the key on and engine off - let me know what you find. This will help us tell if it's a software or hardware issue here.

The 2 pins labeled for INT

Is there a jumper missing on the MAP select header?

No, just took it off for picture purpose and to measure.rickb794 wrote:Is there a jumper missing on the MAP select header?

Re: MSPNP2- Low MAP kpa reading vs baro kpa
I would guess Matt meant to measure from one of those pins to GND, assuming the pin carries the 5V signal.

It reads 4.01v with ignition on. From jumper pin to ground on sensor.

That's unexpectedly high. What pin did you use for ground?

Re: MSPNP2- Low MAP kpa reading vs baro kpa
I used pin 3 on the sensor itself. Found the pinout for the mpxh6400 sensor online. Should I try another ground? Or Vref voltage?Matt Cramer wrote:That's unexpectedly high. What pin did you use for ground?

Re: MSPNP2- Low MAP kpa reading vs baro kpa
That is the right pin - the package is installed so that the upper left hand corner is pin 4. Pin 3 connects to the left pad of C4; that pad may be easier to get a good read off of.
