Reset on Microsquirt V3
Hello ,
First , sory for my bad english , i'm Frenchy
I've a problem on my car with an microsquirt V3, firmware 3.4.1
I've a lot of Reset .
I've try to put bootload to VRef with no effect
The only time I do not have a Reset is by disconnecting the alternator regulator or by feeding the calculator (Pin 1) ,and only to it, by an external battery.
The replacement of the alternator has changed nothing
My ground wiring is good, I really pay attention to this by precisely following the instructions in the manual.
If anyone have an idee for help ? 3 week I try to solve this worries without success
my msq: Datalog with alternator regulator connect: Datalog with alternator regulator disconnect
Thank's,
Best Regard . Yann

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
First, if you haven't already grounded it to the battery directly, I'd try that.
If that doesn't work, try one of these on the the power supply:

Thanks MATT,
Yes I try to connect directly the ground on the battery without good result.
OK for try this filter .
I keep you informed of the results

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
Hello ,
So I test with a power filter but unfortunately the problem persists: reset calculator.
I also try with another calculator provided by Manu of Megasquirt.fr but without success.
He also does not understand why there is this problem.

Are the alternator and microsquirt wires in separated looms ?

yes they are .
Here is how EFI wiring on my car And here is the alternator wiring

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
If the black and blue wires belong to the alternator, You'd better reroute them.
Try a total different way not parallel to the microsquirt wires.
Set up looks nice !

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
So the black and blue wire are Fan & Coil ground wire, put on engine block.
We tried to fix them in different places on the engine block, on the cylinder head and on the body but this had no effect.
The power wires (+ 12v and ground) should be completely separated from the rest of the beam from the microsquirt box?
"Set up looks nice !"
Thank you very much. Juste a little 1400cc R5turbo engine , but that has the potential of 300cv in that current configuration.
Widely enough to have fun with a car of 900kg
I have really taken care of the mechanical and electrical assembly, much more than on my previous editing and it is the first time that I am so embarrassed. It's frustrating

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
Alternator can be a source of noise, due to its rectifier function.
This can generate voltage spikes to upset the microsquirt.
It is best to wire the alternator wires directly to the battery, using a fuse of course,
Battery does act as a capicitor for noisy spikes.
You have to be carefull whit noisy power wires, if run close to signal wires or the microsquirt power wires, its possible they transfer the noise into other wires.
That is why you don't run them parallel, because the longer the distance they run parallel the more noise can be transferd.
Other noise source wires are, trigger wires dumb coils, heater wide band sensor, injector wires, idle valve (PWM driven)
Keep them 10-15cm separted.
Are the sensor wires screened ?

Re: Reset on Microsquirt V3
Hello. The problem was solved!
These were my ignition wires which were faulty.
By removing them from each other the problem had almost disappeared but still a little reset.
With new ignition wires, everything is perfect.
I am happy !
Thank you for your help.
Best regard,
Yann
