Bosch 2 wire idle valve>not enough range

Post by JelmerS38 »

I swithed from closed loop idle to closed loop warm up idle because I coudn't get closed loop idle to work like I wanted to.
I have a 2 wire Bosch idle valve but I can't get it to idle above 1000rpm in test mode. I tried all frequenties but it doesn't go above 1000rpm. The valve it self is not stuck or dirty. If I pull the valve with the engine running it goes to 1700rpm.

I don't have the diode on the wiring, woud this be the problem? Woud the diode give it more range?

The diode is likely on the board.

I have mine set at 92hz. 16% and 83% duty appear to be the min and Max for mine. Also check the correction tables.

it appears you have a microsquirt def worth a try with the diode the valve's can behave odd without it.

I'm assuming you meant to type "switched from closed loop idle to open loop warm up idle". Regardless, if you were able to get it to work without resets using open loop, then it sounds like a settings issue to me. I visually verified the right duty cycle/frequency using a telescopic mirror while my son increased/decreased the numbers. When I observed that the valve no longer opened or closed I wrote those numbers down. I'm using MS2/3.57 board which has the flyback diode built in.

If that's the case, then you definitely do not have the diode built into the board. You can see on page 148 of the ms2 microsquirt manual that no diode is included whereas page 168 of the ms2 3.57 manual clearly shows one installed.

I fitted one and now I have a range from 0 to 2000rpm!

it should also respond to duty change better with the diode fitted as well

I tried some things yesterday and yes, it is more controlable now! Next thing I'm going to do is open both throttles to set it at 800rpm.
