A CAS problem

Post by Lotus7GB »

A 93 Ford Escort Gt 1.8L with the cas/distributor. I have microsquirt installed and am looking at a first start soon. I noticed on the MS Tuner page a red box that said "no tach sync". When I turn the engine over it doesn't register on tuner but my dash gauge will lift off the peg. I was going through to see if all the sensors were synced and came upon this. How can I verify if I have the right wiring for this CAS set up? I have a tower coil so I'am not using the distributor part just the cam sensor. I thought this was a 4g63 configuration so thats what its wired for. Now I am not so sure. I have it wired like pg125 in the manual. Pg 56 is what it should be i am guessing. I cannot find any Escort gt info that fits my installation. Thanks for any input.

Here in the states I'm pretty sure all the Escorts came with a TFI....

Maybe a picture?

Have you confirmed you have the wiring right, it seems many have had issues getting the two signals going to the right places.

This would be a Mazda BP motor, but it should work if spark mode is set to basic trigger.

Matt Thank You. Basic trigger worked. I had a green light on RPM. It was only reading 78? About right?

I think they did. I have a tower spark so I am not using the Ford spark off the distributor. The tower has a built in ignitor. The Ford was separated.

A bit low, but more in the "I think your battery may be getting low" way than a "that RPM probably isn't happening" way.

Matt, what's your best guess for proper ignition, spark, and coil. Just because it got a signal now is what I have right. I think it was dumb luck. I have
Rising edge
Going high
Single cool
And for trigger angle is 10deg right. Currently set to 0.
I have a logic tower coil is single the best setting? Or is it trial and error?

Thanks a lot for your input. One comment leaped me out of a dead spot.

That looks reasonable - you'll just need to verify the trigger angle with a timing light.
