tacho signal

Post by robzuksport »

hi

I am new to the megasquirt world. I have a ms2 v3 and need to know how I set up tacho output for my oem dash gauge.

what I know is that the gauge receives the signal from the ecu. My ignition is 4 cop wasted spark. I have an optical cam sensor similar to the nissans.

I have been looking around a lot and found that I have to make a circuit in the proto area but honestly I dont understand from where I take the signal to convert it for my gauge.

please help. thank you

If the dash gauge was originally powered from the car ECU, it should be simple to connect to MS. A problem arises when an older tach was fed from a single coil - that can need a special circuit built.

If the older style tach running that used to run from a coil then one of these works https://www.autosportlabs.com/product/tach-adapter/

I built one using this circuit from that website for a V8 - drop off one cell for a 6 cylinder and two cells for a 4.
