JS7/PE0 vs. PE0 confusion..

Hi, years ago I built a ground switched circuit as per manual using JS7/PE0 for launch control, so far everything was working great.
NOW I wanted to try spark table switching, so I disabled launch control (Boost/Advanced, Launch control, Launch control option - Off) , then I activated spark table switching (Boost/Advanced, Table switching control, Spark table switching - On, Switch source - Hardware and Switch location - PE0)
But it doesn't work, no change in spark advance, no change in "Status 1" in datalog.
Whats wrong ?

If you activate Port Status, can you see if the input toggles the status of Port E0 in TunerStudio?

What about the jumper on the daughterboard/processor?

Thanks for input Matt,

with ignition ON and engine not running, the "PortE0" is green, when I press the switch, "PortE0" toggles to white..

does the green highlighted "PortE0" mean PE0 is "high" ?
does PE0 going "high" mean Ignition table 3 use ?
any chance PE0 being high during initial power on is problem ?

Tableswitch only works on a running engine

the engine was running before I started this thread, and was running today with Port Status activated.
PORTE0 togles on and off as I operate the switch, "Spk Tbl sw" stays grey, no change in spark advance..
no matter if I power on MS or crank engine with switch depressed or open.

MAP and TPS based spark table switching works..

Please post a datalog showing the problem and your tune file.

hope this helps..
btw: what is PORTE0 value in PORTs BDE datalog field ?

PORTE0 is 1, am I right ? whenever I operate the switch, PORTs BDE goes 1 point up or down..

I thought this information was in the manual, but it hasn't made it to the MS2 manuals yet.

For the programming inclined, this is what's going on.

Code: Select all

            /* port status */
            outpc.portbde = (PORTE & 0x13) | (PTAD & 0xc0) | ((PORTB & 0x10) << 1);
            outpc.portam = (PTM & 0x3c) | (PORTA & 0x01);
            outpc.portt = PTT;
So that means that bit0 (value1) in portbde is equivalent to PORTE0.

If you create a calculated field in MegaLogViewer as "[PORTBDE] & 1" you'll see it.

Is that MSQ the one used for the log? In the log, the spark table is switching based on RPM ?
I examined the code and it looks ok, but I've not bench tested it yet.

I'm not 100% sure this is the msq used for the log, but I'm sure the spark table switching parameters were OK - ON, Hardware and PE0.

yes, I have been trying also RPM and TPS triggered spark table switching, as you can see both ways worked (RPM > 2000, TPS > 10%)

Please post a matching MSQ and MSL with the setting turned on.

Hi, James
I posted maching MSQ and MSL before, but I agree informations I gave to you was little bit confusing :)

look at the screenshoot "datalog1"

1. I started dataloging with these settings : spark table switching ON, source Hardware, position PE0
you can see PE0 status toggling with no change in status1.

2. launch control was not active, but there was still "JS7/PE0" as a source fo launch control, I thought maybe there is conflict, so I turned LC on, and changed to another source, then I turned LC off and power cycled.
you can see reset marks.

3. another switch operations, same settings spk tbl swiching ON, Hardware, PE0, no status1 change.

4. then I tried spk tbl swich triggered by RPM > 2000, it worked, status1 going from 136 to 200 indicates Spk Tbl switching in effect.

5. then I tried TPS > 10% triggered spk tbl swiching, worked, status1 confirmed it

6. status1 - 168 indicating fuel table switching in effect.

7. finally I returned to hardware and PE0 setting, operated switch, no joy...

Sunday morning I made a trip with this MSQ (Spk tbl switching ON, Hardware, PE0), because the switch and PE0 input circuit was originaly intended for launch control, and Spk Tbl swiching doesn't work, it is still operated by cluch pedal.
so everytime I change gear, PE0 toggled, but status1 stays unchanged.
screenshoot says it all, no need to upload 58MB datalog..

Did you power-cycle after changing settings?

once, after fiddling with launch control when TS told me to do so, otherwise not.
