Spike and Vally on flexfuel sensor?

Post by tryingbe »

I'm using Microsquirt V3 MS2/Extra 3.4.2 release and this Flex fuel sensor. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/nal- ... 8pEALw_wcB

I notice sometimes the ethanol percentage will spike and sometimes it will drop.

Any plan to add "averaging lag factor" in for flexfuel sensor like all the other sensors? I will stop using auto e85 correction until this issue is addressed, as it can easily blow up someone's engine when it is adding timing where it shouldn't be.

If this is MS2... no new features are planned. Bugfix only. I guess you could argue that this is a bug.
Do not load someone elses tune and expect it to work for you!

Currently I have had zero feedback on the changes I made to Flex in MS3.
If I ever get any saying it works better, they could get backported to MS2.

Thank you for replying. May I ask at what version the changes were made and what was changed? I checked all the notes on the MS3 obsolete development releases and didn't see anything flex fuel related, maybe I missed it? I want to check my friend's car.

This is my friend's MS3 release 1.3.1 log from last year, his E85 reading did the same thing. It went from 73% to 92% while he was in the middle of 1/4 mile run. Luckily, he didn't have the auto e85 correction turned on or he might have been picking up his block on the track.

I brought this up a while ago. Makes the flex fuel option pretty much unusable.

The code should have a clamp on the sensor reading when under load.

I posted this problem also a couple days ago and it seems there hasn't been any solution to the problem. Hopefully someone will address this.

I posted a plea over on Turbo Bricks forum for those guys to send feedback regarding the changes made in 1.5.1

Some MS3 guys are using flex there are also some MS2 guys using Flex with no issues?
