Re: Microsquirt V2 no serial communication
"Fuel pump always on" doesn't sound good.
Possible reasons I can think of:
-Bootload wire shorted to ground?
-Serial cable doing something weird and putting processor into bootload mode?
-Firmware corrupted
-Chip blank
-Hardware fault
Have you tried the serial "loopback test" to check that your cable is operating? It's in the back of the Megasquirt-2 Setting Up Manual.

Re: Microsquirt V2 no serial communication
Sounds like it could be an internal fault then.
However, I did have one USB-serial cable that wasn't RS232 compliant. It would pass loopback, but wouldn't talk to the Microsquirt.

Re: Microsquirt V2 no serial communication
The cheap chinese USB-serial adapters based on the CH340 chipset will not work with the Microsquirt. There might be other problematic adapters but these ones definitely need to be avoided. By the way, they work fine with a V3.0 board so the issue is a hardware compatibility with the Microsquirt RS232 circuit (verified with an oscilloscope).jsmcortina wrote:However, I did have one USB-serial cable that wasn't RS232 compliant. Re: Microsquirt V2 no serial communication
Agreed. The CH340 is not RS232. If under warranty return it as not fit for purpose. It is 0-5V only instead of +/-7V minimum.racingmini_mtl wrote:The cheap chinese USB-serial adapters based on the CH340 chipset will not work with the Microsquirt. still no luck... tried a few more different computers/cables ect.. thinking about ordering a new v3 and tossing this one on the shelf
Re: Microsquirt V2 no serial communication
Any chance a battery charger or some other noisy poor power source was involved?
Or worse yet a Wall Wart that put out AC?
