Mega stim and EDIS
Can the Megastim be modified for testing a V2.2 modified board? I am assuming I need to hook something to pins 24 and 25. I am using LED17 instead of the fast idle.
I modified one of my stims for the V3 MSnS-E with wheel decoder and it worked great but I haven't been able to find any instruction on this. I could be blind too

Which stim version?
There isn't any need to modify the older one for use with EDIS.

Hmm, guess I am out of the loop again! didn't know there were other versions of the stim. I have 2 and they are both early versions I would assume. I built a V3 board a couple months ago and modded one of the boards to give a tach input with it.
I just modded one of my two V2.2 boards for EDIS to take over the dutys from my MJLJ. I couldn't get any tach so I may have a problem with my mods. Assuming it should work with an unmodded stim.

Hi,
I just bought 2 simulator kit V2.1 from Glen Garage, soldered it up, but it doesn't worked at all, both of them. strange! The PMP led jsut lit for about 3 sec then it goes off until the next power up.Same go with the other set. Is the triggering circuit not compatiable with V2.2 MSnEDIS ?
My ms is v2.2 and it worked fine using the older simulator design based on 555 timer.
Does anyone faced the same problem, i'm running MSnedis 29t.
thanks

Solved!!! just remove the PNP transistor, & jumper the base and emitter on the pcb.

OK, I'm back at this again. My first post does not look to be very clear so I will try again.
I have modded a V2.2 MS-I Board for use of EDIS per the instuctions in the manual. When I hook this to my stim (V2.0 version) I do not get an RPM signal in Megatune. Is this normal?
I assume not because the tach output on the stim is on pin 24 which is the same as the PIP from the EDIS module. Is the stim tach output the same as the EDIS module? 12V square wave?
Also, the stim works perfectly on my other V2.2 MS-I unmodded non-EDIS board.

OK, I obviously have a problem with my modding on my V2.2 board. I followed the directions here: http://www.msextra.com/manuals/MS_Extra ... l.htm#edis to the tee. I have a signal coming off the stim thru the mods to the "U4" componet on the board. I can't find anything coming out of it. It does have 5V going in. I don't even know what this 6 legged thing is!
I'm sure these posts will go unanswered. I don't blame you I'm a little flustered at not being able to bull my way thru this one. I have gone back over the mods I did atleat 30 times. They seem to be perfect. Maybe I will post some pictures of the board on a more general forum if I get no response here. Thanks

I've not seen a v2.0 stim, but I do believe the design changes cause a problem of no tach signal when the Megasquirt board is (correctly) modified for EDIS.
Are you ready to try on your car? If you get a tach signal there then at least you know it works right.
It might be worth contacting whoever you bought it from for any suggested fixes.

Thank you for the response James. My stim is actually a V2 version (not 2.0 if there is such a thing). I believe it was one of the first.
I don't really want to mod my wire harness until I know for sure this will work. Maybe I can come up with something temporary to give it a try. Guess I kinda have too
