JimStim component issue

Post by racingmini_mtl »

There seems to be an issue with the D3 Zener diode in some cases which causes the wheel mode selection to not give the desired mode. The workaround is to simply remove D3. If you are assembling a new JimStim, simply do not install D3.

The diode is used as protection against reverse polarity when using the serial-USB cable. If the cable is not used, the removal of D3 will have no effect on the JimStim functionality other than restoring the correct wheel mode selection.

I will be looking at solving this issue. In the mean time, the workaround is not a big issue because there isn't much reason to use the cable at this time. If someone is planning on using this cable soon, just contact me and we'll find a solution.
