Testing Jimstim1.3
Hello, I just finished my Jimstim1.3 and was wondering what test I can do on it before starting my MS project. Also, will I need Megatune loaded into my MS before trying any test on it. BTW I know I can do the power circut test without it. Thanks

I've not actually tested the stim standalone, be very careful about where you apply the power voltages - keep 12v away from the processor.
If you get power to it ok, you could use one of the on-board LEDs to monitor the tach output. At very low rpms you should be able to see the wheel pattern flashing.

I have a description of how to test the tach signal here: http://www.msefi.com/viewtopic.php?p=184876#184876.
As James mentioned be very careful of any potential shorts.

Edited: I re-read the post.
You will want to configure the MegaSquirt with Megatune to do real testing and see what is happening.
However, You will still see the LEDs flash even without Megatune if your tach signal is the correct one for the default Megasquirt configuration. But that's the extent of what you'll be able to do without Megatune (or another tuning software).
