JimStim v1.3 - 0.80volt drop

Post by Mad Professor »

Good Day All.

I have been using my test bench JimStim for a few months now.

I was just about to start bench testing the opening times on some injectors, when I noted that my bench power supply unit and megatune where not showing the same voltage.

I used a DVM set to volts and placed the (+) Probe from the (+) output of my bench power supply unit, and then placed the (-) probe to the 12v output on the jimstim, this shows me a 0.80volt drop.

I then traced it back to D1 (1N4004) by putting the DVM probes on each side of the diode.

0.80volts seems abit high to what I would expect.

Would I be right by saying that D1 is only here for reverse voltage protection, and if so ok to bridge?

Thanks for your time.

Yes, you're correct about the purpose of the diode. So as long as you're careful with your power connection, there won't be any issue.
