Megastim V2.2 vs EDIS (Extra wired)

Post by Philip Lochner »

In trying to eliminate trigger noise during cranking (to get a stable cranking speed), I tried wiring my MS2/V3's as per the Extra instructions (http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms2extra/MS2-Extra_EDIS.htm).

However, having done this, I found that now my MS would no longer "see RPMs" from my Megatim V2.2.

Reducing R4 on Megastim V2.2 from 10k to 270 Ohm has solved the problem. Also, S2 needs to be in the PNP position.
Kind regards
Philip

Yes, it seems that the v2.2 stim is a bad design in that respect. I don't know why it was changed from the original stim.

I think the IC itself is open collector and will do the job

I ended up adding an NPN transistor and 1K resistor to sink current
