JimStim Inputs/Outputs

Post by big_slim »

Hi,

I'm trying to understand the full capabilities of the JimStim board. I was hoping someone could explain what the two large black terminal blocks are for, aswell as what the 19 pin header is for? All the documentation I have read so far doesn't mention there functionality. Is it possible say to connect a TPS to the jimstim and use an IAC LED to simulate the output?

Thanks

The screw terminals are for use on say a Microsquirt where there isn't a DB37 plug - you can wire a loom pigtail onto the screw terminals.

The row of pin headers are the raw signals and you can hook them up to the LEDs and such.

Did you look at the JimStim information in the manual?

Hi James,

Well I guess I don't need to touch the block terminals then as I'm running megasquirt. Yes I have read the jimstim manual online. So say if I wanted the simulate the TPS pod, I would connect a jumper from the TPS pin on the 19 header to pin 10 on the 10 header. Then connect a jumper from pin 9 of the 10 tin header to the ground header? That should output the TPS on an IAC LED, then LED should go dimmer/brighter as I turn the TPS pod?

Thanks

That's not the normal way to test TPS. Normally just open up TunerStudio and see if the "throttle" gauge changes as you twiddle the pot. The TPS signal is already hardwired on the JimStim so no jumpers required or desired.
