JimStim as standalone simulator

Post by brx-sport »

Hi Folks

I have run the jimstim on MS with success.
But how i got from a friend some kinf of a efi controller that i want to run on my desk before i do anything on engine

Is it possible to run jimstim as a standalone simulator? i want to wire it to the new efi controller

on my efi controller i have those pinouts below, for rpm i need only pos and neg input

pin:
1-Crank IN Positive
2-Crank IN Negative
3-Crank OUT Pos
4-Crank OUT Neg
5-TPS
6-Wideband 0-5V
7-Coolent Temp
8-Air Temp
9-Analog 1 IN 0-5
10-Analog 2 IN 0-5
11- Map Sensor
12-Injector 1 IN
13-Injector 1 Out
14-Injector 2 In
15-Injector2 Out

Thnk you for your help. and for the nice jimstim board.

regards

Some people have used the JimStim with OEM ECUs. However, I can't say if it will work with yours because you don't give any information about it and even then it will depend on what the circuits are and what the code inside expects. So it is very difficult to say if it will work without actually trying. But you will have to find out where to connect the I/Os from the ECU to the JimStim.

And this is definitely not in the correct forum since it has nothing to do with MS3.

the question was only if it will work.

then have never use the jimstim on any other ecu, only on MS
this is why i ask. i know there are outouts on jimstim, but i am still trying to figure out where the crank positive is and where the negative for crank inout

It will work if the signals and connections are suitable.

You will need to determine what is expected on the crank pos/neg inputs and how to connect them. I'm sure it can be done, but without knowing the internals of the ECU it is difficult to advise.

FWIW, I use the JimStim on my test bench for GM (Delco) ECMs, it's never actually been connected to an MS. lol

The easiest way to find a way to connect the Stim to an unknown or unsure ECM would be to find someone that has done the conversion to an MS on a vehicle that uses the ECM you want to connect to the JimStim, follow that crossover pinout and determine the correct trigger wheel pattern to use.
Tha Toy: 1973 Datsun 240Z Turbocharged, and loads of fun, now MS'd
Tha Otha Toy: 1923 T-bucket Hot Rod, Currently Sniper'd
Tha Daily: 2005 Chevy Blazer
Tha Summer Daily: 1987 Buick Skyhawk hatchback
Tha Long Term Project: 1985 GMC S-10 Jimmy, hasn't been fun for a while

Can you share some information about your JimStim test bench connections? I have a GM Delco 16192839 (Opel) ECU & would like to give it a shot.

All the best,

It looks like you may have an interceptor type ecu where is alters the crank signal to change timing and injector PW to change fueling

Thank you for your reply & I apologize for my noob-ish question (should buy some big glasses).
