Not quite a success story yet so I'll borrow this thread. It's close to being fired up in about 4 weeks. Just a few more systems left to fabricate

73 240z, LS3, 4l80e, 9 inch, ms3pro/microsquirt. Goal is to run 10.0 flat in this car

Looking good. Almost got all my wiring done just few small pieces left, did you use any resistors on crank or cam signal on your 2jz. I love the 240z there awesome cars. First car I ever built was a 87 300zx. Loved that car

Got the ls3 started today in the 240Z Once the car gets on the road in a few weeks ill post better video and its own success story

will only run in wasted spark right now, seems something is off to run sequential It fire up and die imediatley Either have poll level wrong, its low right now, or the tooth look up is wrong. Ill post more about that once I can run it longer than I have after getting the engine broke in

This is an amazing beast you've built! Definitely need some video of burning rubber with it.

I'm trying to learn about the options for these 2jz engines, and I'm wondering what coils you used for your setup? Also, are the coil options the same between the GE and the GTE?

Thanks!

Stock coil setups are totally different, but MegaSquirt will let you put a GTE coil on plug setup, GM LSx coils, IGN-1As, or what have you on a GE no problem.

Thanks Matt!

If I'm understanding correctly, even the GTE coils are still not internal ignitor coils? So therefore is the hot ticket for a low-buck setup to just run the LS truck coils with some sort of a fabbed up bracket?

I'm not familiar with the GE or GTE valve cover or head configuration, so would the Toyota Tundra coils be another option to mount up fairly easily?

I'm thinking of using some of those on my BMW M62b44, so I hope they aren't a bad option for electronic reasons. They fit into the M62b44 heads pretty nicely.

GTE coils have an external ignition module.

The 4 wire Toyota pencil coils have a built in ignition module, but aren't especially hot.

I'm running the gm truck coil, D585. Great coils. I run a plug of .032 and a dwell of 3.5 max and am running 33psi without issues. I'm running an ngk 2668 plug

I make brackets to hold the coils in the gte head and actually getting ready to design a bracket for the ge head

Thanks so much!

If you could post up a pic(s) of these brackets I would be very appreciative. I think I'll have to MS a 2JZ in something one of these days. Probably a GE.
