Outlaw Opel team finally went into the MS3 world, hooray :)

Here's a videoclip from last Saturday night, first start with MS3 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BW0KPIcUGFM

The drag racing season start is getting closer...Let's see how close we can get to the 7.5sec class index.

Now we are talking !

Yesterday the Outlaw Opel shattered the team's previous quartermile record with a 7.562 sec / 289.68 kmh (179.92 MPH) run !!! YEAH !!
Very close to the Outlaw class limit of 7.500 sec, and # 1 in the qualifications :)

And still power in reserve, the best trap speed yesterday was 294.6 kmh (182.98 MPH)

Looking good for the eliminations tomorrow, and a week from now it's the European Championship Event (with National Championship as well) on the same track as this weekend (Alastaro Circuit in Finland)

Hopefully I will get some in-car footage for you soon. s*** happened, on that record run the datalogging didn't work :( Otherwise I would have included the datalogging gauges to the in-car video.

Here's at least a still photo : https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/ ... 9433_o.jpg

Here's an "outside" videoclip of the wheelie run : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbb-PcGsy9M

On the other lane is an old Opel Ascona A Voyager with a 4 cyl billet block ! That car ran into the 7's this year for the first time! That Ascona has a loooong history in the same family. And the craftmanhip done to that Ascona is amazing!

For 2014 season for the Opel Omega...nothing big...Engine stays the same, basic maintenance, just adding a shaft speed sensor to get the torque converter slip and maybe new injectors etc misc stuff. Maintenance on the PG gearbox and replacing the casing. Chassis upgrades, moving the weight balance a bit more backwards etc. The upgrade "specs" may get a little more detailed during the winter :P

Hope you guys like it!

It's been awhile since the last post. Nothing really extraordinary has happened, the former Outlaw class with its 7.500sec class limit changed to Pro Street class and 7.600 class limit so we had to slow down the car just a bit.

Other than that we added a 8ch EGT to the MS.

So...The 2016 season ended pretty well, second place in the National Championship!

We're ditching the well-served old Vortech supercharger and going to a tiny little turbo for the 2017 season!

For the Megasquirt, mods for boost control, exhaust backpressure measurement, turbo staging etc

With the same exact turbo a fellow racer in another class has gone 6.7secs @ 332KPH (206MPH) with a small block chevy engine
But at least for 2017 we are still staying in the same class as before which has a class limit of 7.6secs

A few pics of the first turbo mockups. Yes it's still a 531ci big block chevy engine. Might look a bit small. The engine plate with the old supercharger fixing points is still there :

Driver's side turbo header tack welded, had to snake around the steering shaft. Primary tube length difference is 5mm (0.2 inches) :D
TODO for the ECU : 2 additional EGT measurements, 1 exhaust backpressure measurement, 1 driveshaft RPM, 1 boost control output

Turbos solve everything. I'm sure you might end up in the high 6's with out much effort.

It's alive! Yesterday midnight was the first start ever with the turbo, after tackling some "minor challenges" throughout the day

Here's a clip : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BadmEcGeuRs

Still a ton of details left and get the darn thing retuned.

Very nice workmanship on your manifold plumbing - I didn't notice if you mentioned what material spec you went with?
I prefer 321SS for high heat zones (Burns has good stock on mandrel bends most sizes & doesn't break the bank). As you most likely know, if using lighter gauge, lower grades can suffer from the dreaded "intergranular" corrosion issues and turning into fragments.
Looking forward to following your successes
