Spent most of this evening replacing my MJLJ setup with the MS, to initially run ignition only. Took me ages to work out why the fuel pump wasn't priming - some idiot had wired it up thinking the MS gave a 12V feed rather than providing an earth. A bit of crimping later and she primes like a good 'un.
Too late to try and get it started as it's a pig anyway with the carbs but I feel like I've made some progress...

Gave it a try tonight and it is giving a spark. Had a very minimal firing (which is what I'd expect from carbs) but at least it's talking to the EDIS

Well, with some extremely dodgy shade tree mechanic skillz, I've got sort of a first run on EFI. Using 2 injectors directly into the intakes and it coughs & splutters a bit on cranking. Can't say it's actually running yet but as it turned out, my TPS doesn't fit and had to be bodged on with cable ties. Baby steps...
