Sucks about the old motor, but rad about the new one!
Good luck on dyno.

So it made this with a 100 shot of nitrous
Image

Made less power than the old engine but its less compression so that's expected 446@9.5-1 and 420@8.5-1 but it survived :)

So a year on I have done a few upgrades, Its now running a HY35 turbo, less nitrous from 100 shot to a 40 shot and on E85 with a flex fuel sensor :D
Last weekend I ran a PB of 10.63 @133 mph (first weekend with the e85 and its terminals are the same as when i was running the 100 shot on petrol at the same boost :yeah!: )

here are a couple of YouTube videos

Awesome!!
No inside footage?
How is that HY35 turbo? Takes a long time to full boost? Ball bearing? Journal bearing?

Hi, No inside footage, need to fix that for next weekend (door slammers @ santapod) but there is some good footage from Zeon TV of me running my PB against the beetle here that was uploaded yesterday.

https://youtu.be/EZbQcJ7M60A?t=16m52s

the HY35 spools alot faster than the HX35 (but most of that is probably due to the exhaust housing 14cm to 10cm for the HY) and the E85 seems to spool the turbo faster too when i run it really rich so really quite happy, on the sunday of doorslammers i may turn it up a little more as i still have some boost left on the table and i can always up the nitrous shot.

oh and its journal bearing

Those HY35 turbos are cheap, aren't they? And they compare to GT30?
That is really good 1/4mile time!! Good luck for next weekend!

Hy35 is more like a small hotside 61mm gt35 in power delivery and efficiency.

Im not sure how it compares as i have only really used these Holsets and yes they are cheap (so much so i bought a spare 8) that i might use on my aircooled project when it gets off the ground)

once the next couple of weekends are out of the way I will be putting on a mates dyno just to see what its making, My next turbo i am looking at fitting is a HE400VG if i can get the ms3 to control it :D

I would say it will be the same on a dyno.
Dyno, increase timing, see if torque is raising, if it is, increase timing a bit more. If it does not raise much, you should be close to the limit of timing, so either back off a bit, or leave it at a bit of risk :D

How much for a turbo like that? New? Used? Rebuilt?

the turbo I got a really good deal on from a mate that had bought it with a manifold for a vr6, he thought the turbo would be too small for him so we went halfs on the cost of the turbo and manifold, in the end it cost me £100  but the spare that i picked up was about £180, both were used although the one that came with the manifold had been recently rebuilt.

they do come up from time to time at that kind of price but you need to keep your eye out.

I was going to put those cams in before the weekend but i am going to wait and build the head up a little bit more (new exhaust valves and stronger springs etc) so that i can rev it a bit harder :D

And no problem changing gears?
d***..: Whenever I try to change gears up high RPM, and this is max 7200, it sticks at the "door", and does not go in...

You probably need new syncros. For over 7500 we modify them. For over 8k you really need dog engagement.

I already took out some teeth from the syncros, as I remember you did and provided information to people.
Still doesn't work that good for me :D

I had my rev limiter set to 7900 with a shift light of 7500 and i dont have a problem shifting on a stock box, i think alot of that is due to my linkage and shift tower being very tight ( refreshed about 2 years ago with new 02j tt bits shorter throw) seems to work well

If removing teeth did’t work have a good look at the hub sliders. They may need some massaging.

How would I go with massaging the hub? What needs to be done?

Usually I replace them but they are $$$

After you remove them, file off any burrs and shape them back to a blunt point. If. You can’t shift, they are probably rounded off.

So took the car out at the weekend and had a few issues to start with and after chatting to a couple of UK drag legends at the weekend (John Webster and Richie Webb) they helped me understand the issue i was seeing with my nitrous jetting on E85 (basically i needed more fuel) I managed to run this .......
