yep that was a stock engine with rods and arp head bolts, the rings where stock rings and i didn't touch the gaps  same as the next engine is (as it is already together and sat on the floor) but i should take a bit more effort on my engine builds now i suppose

i had looked at E85 but its just as expensive as say c14 in the uk at least

If you have the motor i think you do, the oem ring gap is tight .017 thou. there is a good chance they touched.
i would open them up to .025 and .030 before going up.

the e85 cooling ability is what is magic. C14...mehhh i stay away from leaded fuels, and they do not cool like e85 this is where you get reliability and that with more octain giving the ability to run more ignition.

so i took the new engine to a dyno tonight and she made 372.5 hp at the wheels and 378lbft of torque @2 bar the turbo should be good to 3 bar... the wastegate appears to be opening at about 1.7 bar... need a stronger wastegate spring

Are you willing to share the MSQ?
Was this tuned on a dyno? Or just road and track?

Also, what kind of suspension setup are you running? I went to the track a couple weeks ago, and the car just sucked big time :D

can do its a very basic map its based on my old map but i was just running too rich... hopefully i will be testing tomorrow and racing sat and sunday. the dyno guy spent some time with me and the car and managed to get rid of a few flat spots and also bring the boost in earlier... i took it for a test drive today and it spun up in third without trying in the dry :yeah!: I have new slicks and the target of low 11's or 10's if i can get her off the line ... also have a 24 lb spring for the wastegate on order so i can up the boost... I have a video of the 372 hp run and you can see the engine lift up where the front solid mount came loose ... now fixed with a socket and bolt

https://www.facebook.com/VWDRC/videos/10154161101889846

*edit* the suspension is just a very cheap set of coil overs (jom) with the tracking set to toe out just over a degree and camber set as much as the front wheels will adjust to

Wow, that engine was almost lying down on the drivers lap ahah :)
So, that JOM coilovers setup, isn't it too bouncy? Does the car rock like hell? I mean when you step on it, will it throw the front skyhigh?
Mine is so bad, I need to change something...
Do you have a link for that suspension? Also, does it behave good enough on the track?

I was checking your MSQ, and was finding it strange, how that fuel table was working for you, but then realized it's fully sequential :)
As for the timing, the car runs pretty smooth on NA? With the ignition set to 30?
Also, you have the same ignition for 2bar, as I have for 1.25 :D This is the setup you had when it collapsed?
I have a lot of issues idling, and I see that you also don't have idle valve. How do you have it setup?

What boost valve are you running?

All those questions, I know :) eheheh cheers mate!

Also, maybe you can see how my car behaves with the suspension I currently have:
When I accelerate, it will send the front of the car sky high.
You can see this on this video:

The JOM's are too soft in the rear for drag racing they are great for the price about £150 but I need stiffer springs

As for idle its ok it does foul the plugs if I don't get it up to temp and do loads of starts and stops like moving it round the workshop BKR7E plugs... I have drilled the throttle stop and put a little screw in to adjust the idle idles a little slow on startup and a little high once warm but its simple....

As for the boost solenoid its a diyautotune one

I was thinking of getting the JOM's, or maybe the JOM eXtrem, which are dampening adjustable as well, for €400. Maybe with this, I would be able to stiffen the rear quite a bit, so it's good for drag and track.

I also see that the plugs will be all black after a while, if I start and shut quite often.
I don't have the screw. I open up the lid that is on the TB, and adjust it there. It's a one time procedure. Idle at cold will be around 600 or something, and warm, 950ish.

I also have the DIYAutotune solenoid, and I was wondering if yours was the same, so I can use the specs for the closed loop ;)

Your car seems to be strong as hell!!
Those are WHP figures? That is really strong!

This is mine:

WHP is just 282.meeeeh :D

can you still get the better joms i looked a while ago and couldn't see them...

the screw was just so that i could fine tune it when i was mapping it :D i used to do it the same way as you but got the arse one day and drilled and tapped it.

Not sure if the closed loop works well... as the wastegate spring is a bit too weak ... got a 24psi spring to throw in :yeah!:

I believe they are WHP but not certain .... not that fussed it does 0-120 in 9.1 seconds

not sure if this link to a video will work but ... https://video-amt2-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t42 ... e=571E8E6E

I saw that your car also got the rear really low.. I got the same on mine:
https://youtu.be/zkIGRHvw2e0?t=125
I have a lot of issues changing gears.
It seems that the clutch does not disengage fully at high RPM, therefore, will need to wait for the RPM to drop a bit, before I can get into gear again.
Yeah, you can get the better JOM's:
http://www.venommotorsport.com/suspensi ... -golf-mk2/
This is in the UK.

I'll test the closed loop stuff and see how it turns out.

be a little careful with the closed loop that was attempted to try to overcome a weak (6psi) wastegate spring .....

which clutch are you using?

i was looking at keeping the joms and just putting a stronger spring in from avo http://www.avouk.com/MotorsportFrameset-84.htm

So, you feel that the JOM's are good enough as they are, and maybe the dampening adjustments are not really necessary?
Is the car bouncy at all? I'm afraid it will be, therefore the dampening adjustment is being considered...
This is just a toy car, and the less I spend, the better :)

Clutch is a F1 Racing Stage 3.
If you press the clutch down, shift into 1st, and rev limit it, will the car hop forward? Mine will, and this is what leads me to say it does not disengage fully.

I have managed a 1.63 60ft on my drag slicks, for me i am going to try with just the stiffer springs as its quite cheap to do.... if i was buying again i would probably go for a set with damper and rebound adjust but then again they can be expensive

my clutch does not pull me forward like yours i would look at that and that would explain why its difficult to change gear for you.

Yeah, damper and rebound is just too much for a toy car, at least for me.
SPending either 200 for regular JOM or 400 for damper adjust is now the question.

As for the clutch, I'm not sure if it's something to do with the clutch plate, pressure plate, hydraulic system... I don't know.
I have already created a push rod that is 5mm longer, to see if it would help, but it's the same. I saw that some people would use a washer on one bold where the clutch fork connects, and this would be the same.
Sad it doesn't work as it should...

Strangly enough, I had the cable, and switched to hydraulic to overcome some clutching issues.
I was getting issues getting into 3rd. This was with the VR6 clutch kit.
Changed it to the hydraulic. Same thing, bitting point was OK, but it would still hop forward with the previous test.
Changed to F1racing, same issue. Bitting point is a bit low, but changing gears up top on the RPM, will be crazy...

so went racing at the weekend managed to qualify 1st (11.61 on a 11.55 dial) and go through the first round v the championship leader  and even had a bye into the final ... however the rain halted play :( .

here is a video of a couple of my 10 second runs at big bang ...

Whoah!! That is mad quick :) ahah nice!!!!
I went racing, but 700m rolling start ones. It was fun. But your car is really strong! I do see that you take some time shifting (as I do, due to the gearbox not cooperating at high RPM). You could get that a bit faster, right?
Congrats!! :yeah!:

Time for an update as I am sat in an airport waiting for a flight.....

As some of you know I took my car to the dyno the other day and had a failure which wrote that engine off it made 446hp on a silly rich tune (9 AFR) and before we could make any changes the keyway on the crank pulley sheared

Here are some pics

First the good

Image

And the bad

Image

Image

Image

And the ugly I used the old crank to test drill

Image

So I decided to build another block and got kindly offered some wossner pistons in stock bore for a price I couldn't turn down

So the upgrades first a pegged crank pulley

Image

Cleaned up wossner pistons with new gapped rings

Image

Reused the max speeding rods from the last engine

Image

And voilà

Image

Going for mapping this Sat fingers crossed....
