Was able to do very quick-and-dirty mockup today with a MS3X on my '73 Dodge Dart.
The ignition of the 318ci motor was already done earlier with a HEI-7 pin module, which made the installation of the MS much easier, since it runs alongside the HEI-module.
During the test the engine still has it's original distributor in it with mechanical advance and all, so I used the Fixed timing in TS.
Now the test has proven succesful I will make plans of installing everything neatly and secure with proper connectors and such.

Re: '73 Dodge Dart - MS3 mockup and runtest
Nice I have never owned a stock cammed LA engine before, even my mild 318 has an XE262 and idles @800rpm. Amazing how smooth it idles, and at 520 rpm. No way I could rest a beer on my strokers air cleaner. My boss has a 72 dart with a 360/727.
Find the Manuals up top under Quick links: Manuals.

Re: '73 Dodge Dart - MS3 mockup and runtest
The engine ran with the transmission in Drive and emergency brake activated in the clip.
When I turn on the headlights and heater fan on full blast, the rpms will drop to 475. Normally I try to keep the minimum rpms in Drive at around 550rpm.
It also helps greatly this engine runs on LPG/propane.
After this MS-project is done I will install a high cr 360 engine (11.3:1cr) in the car with a 256 cam and crank trigger.

Re: '73 Dodge Dart - MS3 mockup and runtest + First Drive
This weekend I completed the install in my car and was finally able to take it for a spin around the block.
Everything looked nice and dandy and I was already noticing the engine ran happier with the digital tune than it did with its analog/mechanical ignition curve (Which I had adjusted plenty of times before).
Only thing I noticed was a very occassional "RPM spike" during idle or low RPM running.
At one time (3rd logfile), a couple of spikes felt like they would kill the engine so I gave it some more throttle to keep the rpms up at 700rpm.
The spikes only seem to happen at idling.

Re: '73 Dodge Dart - MS3 mockup and runtest + First Drive
Had my MS3x Dodge Dart on the dyno for the first time last week.
After a full exhaustsystem change I was wondering what its current output was.
This was the 3rd time I visited this chassis dyno-shop. Previous dyno-sessions were done with the old stock recurved distributor and ignition system.
Knowing the current exhaustsystem (headers, dual 2.5" dia. X-pipe, Borla ProXS) was too big for the current 318ci engine, I still had expected some 'improvement' over the stock factory castiron manifolds and 2-1/4" dual system.
Unfortunatly power turned out to be less then the 2nd dyno-session:
2nd dyno-session: 169 rwhp
3rd dyno-session: 161 rwhp
Have put up some info, dyno-charts, pics and a combined videoclip on my site;

Re: '73 Dodge Dart - MS3 mockup and runtest + First Drive +
Topic-update
Thought I would update this topic as I've swapped the 318ci engine for a 360ci engine some time ago already.
Visited the dyno for a 4th time after the engine swap earlier this year and power was increased to 234 rearwheel HP.
https://www.bigblockmopar.nl/2018/09/do ... dynoday-4/
I currently have 3 additional modifications queued up;
- Aluminium heads with larger valves and ports.
- Hydraulic roller cam XR268
- Transmisison swap from the A518(46RH) to a beefed up A500(42RH), which has lighter rotating assembly, reduced friction of the internals and a more efficient stall convertor.
